If weather is missing from your Lenovo Smart Clock, or it shows the wrong city, first check the Google Home address for the Home linked to the clock, then confirm the device is online and restart it. Ask Google Assistant for the weather in a named city to distinguish a wrong spoken location from a display-only problem. Use reset instructions for your exact clock model only after those checks.
Identify the clock model and the symptom
Lenovo has separate guidance for the original Lenovo Smart Clock and Smart Clock 2, and their controls are not interchangeable. The Smart Clock Essential is a different model; reports about it do not establish that other models share the same fault or fix.
- Original Lenovo Smart Clock: the touchscreen model covered by Lenovo’s Smart Clock FAQs and troubleshooting.
- Lenovo Smart Clock 2: follow the model-specific steps in Lenovo’s Smart Clock 2 user guide.
- Lenovo Smart Clock Essential: do not apply touchscreen directions to this model. If the documented checks below do not resolve it, contact Lenovo support.
Be precise about what is wrong: weather may be entirely absent, the city or postcode may be wrong, only the temperature may be missing, or the temperature unit may be unexpected. These symptoms point to different checks.
Compare the spoken forecast with the clock display
Ask, “Hey Google, what’s the weather in [your city]?” Note the place Assistant names and compare its answer with the clock screen. This is a diagnostic check, not a guaranteed way to refresh the screen.

- If Assistant gives weather for the wrong place, check the Google account, selected Home, and Home address.
- If Assistant gives the correct location but the screen still lacks weather, the spoken result does not prove that the display has recovered. Record the difference for troubleshooting or support.
- If the city is right but Celsius or Fahrenheit is wrong, treat it as a units issue rather than a location problem.
Recent Google Home community posts describe missing outdoor temperature and incorrect postcodes, including on Essential devices. They are individual user reports, not confirmation of a general defect or a verified screen-refresh procedure. Check the Google Home account, Home, and address
Google says the address selected for a Home is the default location for local weather and time unless another place is specified. Make sure you are signed in with the Google account linked to the clock, then select the Home that contains it. Check that Home’s address and map pin: an incorrect pin can leave location-based results tied to the wrong place. Google’s instructions are in Set or change your home address in the Google Home app.

- Open the Google Home app and check the profile/account currently in use.
- Select the Home where the Lenovo clock is set up.
- Open that Home’s settings and review its address.
- Correct the street address and place the map pin over the home, then save.
The address belongs to the selected Home, so changing another Home’s address will not correct the clock’s location.
Check connectivity and restart the clock
Lenovo says the Smart Clock needs active Wi-Fi and is designed to remain powered. Check whether the clock appears online in Google Home and whether other devices can access the internet. Lenovo’s original-model guidance describes the device as intended to stay plugged in so Assistant remains available: Lenovo Smart Clock FAQs and Troubleshooting.

- Confirm Wi-Fi and internet access are working for other devices.
- Unplug the clock’s power adapter and allow the device to shut down.
- Reconnect power and give the clock time to boot and reconnect. Lenovo’s Smart Clock 2 guide recommends waiting a few minutes for boot-up; timing and screens can vary by model.
- Check whether weather has returned, and repeat the spoken-versus-display comparison if needed.
If the clock remains offline, address that connection problem before treating weather as an isolated display fault.
Change temperature units only for a unit mismatch
Google lets you change Assistant’s preferred temperature unit. Its unified temperature setting does not apply to displays on third-party devices, however. It may help explain or address a Celsius/Fahrenheit mismatch in Assistant, but it is not a fix for a missing weather display or an incorrect city. Use a factory reset only after simpler checks
If the address, internet connection, and restart have not helped, follow Lenovo’s factory-reset directions for the exact model. Lenovo includes reset as a later step for certain original Smart Clock issues and Smart Clock 2 Assistant problems; it is a general device troubleshooting measure, not evidence that the weather service itself is broken. A factory reset means setting up the clock again.
- Use the original Smart Clock instructions for the original touchscreen model.
- Use the Smart Clock 2 guide for Smart Clock 2.
- Do not assume either procedure applies to the Essential.

When the problem persists
Google Home community posts from September 2026 describe an Essential showing an incorrect postcode and missing weather after the poster tried changing Home, Assistant, and Maps settings and resetting the device; another report describes outdoor temperature missing after unplugging. These accounts document user experiences, but do not establish the cause, scale, or existence of a service outage. No official notice confirming a current Lenovo Smart Clock weather-display outage is established by the sources cited here.
When contacting support, provide the model, whether Assistant’s spoken forecast is correct, whether the clock is online, which Home address and pin you checked, and which model-specific steps you tried. That separates a location problem from a display symptom without assuming a cause. The community posts do not establish that changing phone location permissions, clearing an app cache, or repeatedly resetting the clock will resolve the issue.
