Open the specific post, comment, message, video, or account, use that platform’s Report option, and choose the reason that most accurately describes your concern. A report asks the platform to review the item; it does not guarantee that the content will be removed. Afterward, check the platform’s reporting-status area for any decision or option to request another review.
Before you report content
- Find the specific item or account you want reviewed. Keep its link, username, or other identifying details available in case you need to locate it again.
- Open the platform’s reporting control for that item and select the closest accurate reason. Add any details the form requests, then submit.
- Check the platform’s own status area for an update. If a further review is offered, you can use the displayed option; it is not available for every decision or type of content.
“Harmful” describes your concern, not a determination that the platform’s rules were broken. Each service decides whether the reported item violates its standards. Menu names and locations can change with app updates, device, language, and region, so follow the labels shown in your version of the service.
How to report content on TikTok
In the TikTok app
- Open the post you want to report.
- Tap Share or press and hold the post, then tap Report.
- Choose a reason and, if prompted, a subtopic. Follow the prompts and submit the report.
In a browser
- Open the video.
- Open More options, choose Report, select a reason, and submit.
TikTok also accepts reports about comments and accounts. The person reported is not told the reporter’s identity, according to TikTok. App labels and paths may vary as TikTok updates its interface.
How to report content on Facebook
Open the relevant post, comment, message, or account and use its Report or Find Support/Report control. Follow the on-screen prompts to choose the reason that best fits and submit. The exact initial-report menu path can differ by device, so use the control displayed beside the content rather than relying on a single menu sequence.

Facebook reviews reports against its Community Standards. Reporting does not mean Facebook will remove the item: it will decide whether the content violated those standards.
How to report content on Instagram
Open the specific content or account and use the reporting option shown in Instagram, then choose the most accurate reason and submit. Because menu wording and placement can vary, follow the current in-app prompts rather than assuming one navigation path applies to every device or language.

Where to check a report’s status
- Facebook: Check Support Inbox. Facebook says it will notify you whether the reported item did or did not violate its standards.
- TikTok: Look for an update in your inbox, or go to Settings and Privacy > Support > Safety Center > Report Records.
- Instagram: Some reports may appear under Support Requests, where you can review the decision and, when available, request another review. Not every submitted report necessarily appears there.
If you cannot find a report in the status area, that does not establish what decision was made. Availability of status details differs by platform and report.

The platform reviews the item under its rules and determines whether those rules were violated. A report is a request for review, not a takedown guarantee, and the official guidance cited here does not promise a response time. If the content remains up, look for a further-review option in the platform’s status area; Facebook says such an option is usually offered when it leaves reported content up, but not for every content type. Instagram also provides another-review options for some reports shown in Support Requests.

Reporting is separate from personal feed controls such as blocking, restricting, or hiding content. Those controls can change what you see or who can interact with you, but they do not substitute for asking the platform to review a possible policy violation.
