A carrying case and screen protector help with travel, but must match your Switch model. No single accessory solves every setup.
Which accessories suit your play style?
Start with your play mode and the device whose battery you want to manage. These are Nintendo-listed options for the original Switch family, not a universal ranking based on independent comfort or runtime tests.

For a separate controller: Nintendo Switch Pro Controller
If you would rather play with a separate controller than hold the Joy-Con, Nintendo’s Pro Controller is a straightforward option for the original Switch family. Nintendo Australia lists an approximately 40-hour battery life and a 1,300 mAh lithium-ion battery, and says the controller can be charged with the specified AC adapter or included USB charging cable. Those are manufacturer specifications, not an independent test or a guarantee of how long a controller will last in a particular session. Nintendo also lists motion sensors, HD rumble, and NFC. The battery figure applies to the controller—not the Switch console or a Zelda play session. Whether the Pro Controller feels better than Joy-Con is a personal preference; Nintendo’s specifications do not establish a comfort comparison.

To keep Joy-Con charged while playing: Joy-Con Charging Grip
The Joy-Con Charging Grip combines the left and right Joy-Con in a grip-style layout and can charge them while you play. Nintendo says it can be powered by the Switch AC adapter or the included USB charging cable. The Joy-Con themselves are not included, so this is a targeted choice if you already own them and want this layout with charging capability. For tabletop play while charging: Adjustable Charging Stand
Nintendo’s Adjustable Charging Stand is the most directly documented choice for playing in tabletop mode while charging the console. It supports an adjustable viewing angle and lets the system charge as you play. You need to supply the Switch AC adapter; Nintendo says the stand does not include one. For storage and travel: match the case and screen protector
A case is useful for carrying the console, games, and small accessories; some official bundles also have a stand function. Nintendo Australia describes a bundle with room for five game cards and two Joy-Con straps, but the screen protector in one Switch bundle does not fit Switch OLED. Nintendo Philippines lists a separate bundle with protectors for standard Switch and Switch OLED. Confirm the exact console model and the contents of the regional bundle before buying rather than assuming one protector fits every Switch. What about a power bank or other charging accessory?
A USB-C power bank may be relevant for handheld play away from an outlet, but the cited Nintendo materials do not establish a particular model, charging rate, compatibility across hardware revisions, or extra play time. Do not choose one on the assumption that all power banks behave alike; verify the exact model and your console revision. Nintendo lists the Switch AC adapter among its accessories, and the Adjustable Charging Stand is the more directly documented option for tabletop charging. Nintendo’s accessory list also includes items such as Joy-Con, a dock set, and a dock with LAN port, but these address other needs rather than charging Joy-Con or the console during a solo session.

Check compatibility before buying for Switch 2
Original Switch accessories do not all carry over to Switch 2. Nintendo’s compatibility table says original Switch Joy-Con and Pro Controllers can connect wirelessly to Switch 2, but original Joy-Con cannot attach to it. The original Adjustable Charging Stand and dock are marked incompatible; the original AC adapter can charge Switch 2 when connected directly but cannot power it in TV mode. Nintendo also says Switch 2 is designed for microSD Express; standard microSD cards can only be used to view screenshots and videos captured on original Switch. Consult Nintendo’s Switch 2 compatibility guidance and verify each product against your console before purchase.
