Choose an 18V cordless leaf blower by comparing both airflow volume (CFM) and air speed (MPH), then check the controls, nozzles, noise and runtime claims, and whether the price includes a compatible battery and charger. Match those details to what you need to clear—such as dry leaves on a patio or heavier debris across a larger area—rather than relying on yard size or one headline number alone.
Start with the debris and surfaces you need to clear
Think about the routine before comparing model names: what debris you move, where it collects, and how often you expect to use the blower. Clearing a small patio or work area is a different task from moving leaves across a lawn. The available manufacturer specifications do not establish a universal yard-size or debris-load cutoff for a particular CFM or MPH rating, so use ratings as comparison points rather than guarantees for a specific property.
Product class matters, too. DEWALT lists its compact DCE100B jobsite blower at 100 CFM, while its cited handheld yard-blower models are rated at 450–550 CFM. Those figures illustrate a difference in intended product class, not a tested threshold for a particular yard.
Compare CFM and MPH together
CFM measures air volume; MPH describes air speed. They capture different aspects of airflow, so a high MPH figure by itself does not tell you how much air the blower moves. Check both ratings and the configuration used to achieve them. A specified nozzle can affect a published maximum: DEWALT rates the DCBL722B at up to 450 CFM and up to 125 MPH with its concentrator nozzle.

These are DEWALT product-page ratings, not results from an independent side-by-side yard test. Compare figures cautiously when models use different nozzles or when the manufacturer does not state matching test conditions.
Check voltage labels and battery compatibility
“18V” and “20V MAX” can describe the same nominal-voltage category rather than two different power levels. DEWALT explains that 20V MAX is the maximum initial battery voltage measured without a workload, while nominal voltage is 18V. Its product pages use the 20V MAX branding for compatible products.

Do not assume batteries work across brands just because the voltage number matches. Confirm the exact blower model and battery family. DEWALT says its compatible outdoor products support 20V MAX and 20V/60V MAX FLEXVOLT batteries; that does not establish compatibility for another brand or every tool in a product family. Decide between a tool-only blower and a kit
A tool-only listing can make sense if you already own a battery and charger that the exact blower supports. If not, compare the full kit’s included battery and charger as part of the purchase, rather than comparing tool-only and kit prices as if they contained the same items.

Match controls and nozzles to the cleanup
Variable-speed control helps adjust airflow for different tasks, while a speed lock can make it easier to maintain a selected setting without continuously squeezing the trigger. Consider whether you will clear open lawn, sweep a hard surface, or need a more concentrated stream around corners and edges.

Runtime depends on the blower, battery and operating setting. DEWALT states that the DCBL724B runs for up to 17 minutes at full speed with a DCB208 battery, which is sold separately. This is the manufacturer’s stated maximum under that configuration, not a guarantee of typical runtime across batteries or workloads.

DEWALT lists operating noise ratings of 62 dB(A) for the DCBL722B and 58 dB(A) for the DCBL724B. The product pages do not establish comparable measurement conditions for those figures, so they should not be treated as a definitive head-to-head noise ranking.
