AMD recommends a 450 W minimum power supply for a PC with a Radeon RX 570, but that is a baseline—not a calculation for every build. AMD lists the card itself at 150 W typical desktop board power. To judge your own PC, calculate the wattage requirement for all installed components, compare it with the PSU’s rated output, and check the exact card’s power connector.
RX 570 wattage: the GPU figure versus the PSU recommendation
AMD’s Radeon RX 570 specifications list 150 W typical desktop board power and a 450 W minimum PSU recommendation. These numbers describe different things: 150 W is the graphics card’s typical board power; 450 W is AMD’s suggested minimum capacity for the power supply in a PC using the card. The 150 W figure is not the wattage of the entire computer or the PSU size to buy.
Partner cards can have different published power figures. For example, MSI specifies 150 W for its RX 570 ARMOR 4G OC and 120 W for its RX 570 GAMING 4G. MSI lists a 450 W recommended PSU and one 8-pin power connector for each of those models. Use the specification for your exact card rather than assuming every RX 570 is identical.
How to calculate the wattage for your PC
- Identify the exact RX 570 model. Check the card’s product page or label for its power consumption and auxiliary PCIe power connector. The GPU’s specifications alone do not describe the rest of your computer.
- List every installed component. Include the CPU and all other parts in the system, not just the graphics card. The parts list matters because the wattage requirement is for the complete PC.
- Estimate the complete system’s requirement. Enter those components into a PSU or wattage calculator. AMD’s PSU troubleshooting guidance recommends calculating the total wattage requirement of installed components and comparing it with the PSU’s rated output.
- Check the PSU label and cabling. Find its rated output on the unit’s label, and verify that it has the matching cable for your exact card. Do not assume an adapter or connector listed for another RX 570 variant is suitable.
- Compare the figures in context. Use AMD’s 450 W minimum recommendation as an RX 570 baseline, then assess the PSU against the calculator’s whole-system estimate and your exact card’s specification. The available manufacturer figures do not establish one universal headroom formula or a precise PSU requirement for a build whose other components are unknown.
Will a 450 W PSU be enough?
It may be appropriate when the complete system’s calculated requirement and the exact card’s connector needs are met, but the 450 W recommendation alone cannot confirm that a particular PSU will work in every PC. The number is a manufacturer recommendation, not a guarantee for any unit labelled 450 W. A faulty PSU may also fail to deliver its specified wattage, as AMD notes in its troubleshooting guidance.

- [1.8'' LCD Screen] -- Outputted Voltages shows on the 1.8'' LCD Screen, Easy to Read ( The 1.8'' LCD Screen was Powered by 20-pin / 24-pin Connector ), Note: The Product Screen Has a Load of Scratches All Over It?Because The Screen is Easy to Scratch, We Put a Protective Film on It, If You Think It's Not Beautiful, You Can Tear It Off by Yourself
- [Beep Alarm] -- When your power supply test value is beyond normal range, the Power Supply Tester would issue a buzzer alarm, Easy to Know
- NOTE: The voltage of 20pin / 24pin connectors is displayed by the LCD Screen, as "+3.3V", "+12V1", "+5V", "-12V", "5VSB", "PG" (except "+12V2" on LCD Screen); The voltage of PCI-e 6P / 4P / EPS P8 connectors is displayed by the LCD Screen as "+12V2"
These published figures are manufacturer specifications, not measurements of your computer under load. Without the CPU and the rest of the parts list, there is no defensible way to calculate one exact whole-PC wattage for your build.
What to check if the PC has power problems
AMD identifies boot failure, random crashes, hangs, reboots, and display corruption as possible PSU-related symptoms. They are clues, not proof that the power supply is the cause. Check the PSU’s rating and condition, the card’s required connector, and the rest of the system before attributing a problem to wattage alone.
