What to expect from Astonishia Story
NIS America describes Astonishia Story as an updated version of a classic Korean RPG. You follow Lloyd von Reuental as he tries to recover a stolen relic and stop the Elven Queen from awakening an ancient god. The publisher identifies exploration, grid-based battles and recruiting allies or mercenaries as core parts of the game. How to prepare your Switch 2
- Check the listing close to launch. Nintendo’s current product page gives a February 11, 2027 release date and the compatibility note “Supported – Game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch.” This describes the listed Switch game running on Switch 2; Nintendo does not identify it as a separate Switch 2 Edition. Check the Nintendo listing again near release in case details change.
- Choose an edition and format. Nintendo’s US listing is for a digital Nintendo Switch title. NIS America’s store separately offers a Special Edition with a Nintendo Switch platform option. Check the live listings for price and included extras before buying; current official information here does not establish Amazon stock or a physical standard edition. - Plan storage. Nintendo estimates the download at 2.4 GB for both Switch and Switch 2. Leave at least that much available and recheck the final download size when the game is released; Nintendo’s page does not date the estimate.
- Pick your play mode. Nintendo lists TV, tabletop and handheld modes, with one player on one system. The listing also includes Save Data Cloud support; a Nintendo Switch Online membership is required for cloud backup, not for playing the single-player game itself.
- Use the game’s tutorial when it is available. Follow the on-screen instructions and control prompts rather than relying on button mappings published before release. The current listings do not confirm the Switch controls, tutorial sequence, save prompts or difficulty options.
What to focus on when you begin
Talk to people as you explore
NIS America specifically advises players to talk to everyone because optional mercenaries may join the party. Recruitment is confirmed, but the available descriptions do not explain every character or the exact conditions for joining.
Learn the grid-battle basics
The publisher identifies grid-based combat, moving units, abilities and positioning as relevant systems. Pay attention to the tutorial’s explanations of how movement and turns work, then learn each party member’s distinct skills. These are confirmed features, not a claim about a tested or optimal strategy; detailed battle rules and first-fight tactics have not been published in the sources available before launch.

Check the content rating
The ESRB rates Astonishia Story T for Teen for Blood, Fantasy Violence, Language and Use of Alcohol. Its rating summary describes turn-based combat with swords, maces, staffs, melee attacks and magic, as well as occasional blood-splatter effects, corpses, violent scenes, drinking references and profanity. This may help families decide whether the game is appropriate.

Nintendo’s US store lists American English, a 2.4 GB estimated download and February 11, 2027 as the release date. The date and store details are subject to change, so verify the Nintendo product page near launch. The ESRB lists Windows PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 as platforms, but platform listings alone do not confirm a release date or availability for every platform.
