Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf your iPhone has no cellular signal, you can still make ordinary phone calls over Wi‑Fi if your carrier supports Wi‑Fi Calling, the feature is enabled for the correct line, and the Wi‑Fi connection works. Turn it on in Settings > Cellular, then place a call from the Phone app as usual.
How do I use Wi‑Fi Calling on my iPhone with no service?
- Connect your iPhone to a working Wi‑Fi network.
- Open Settings > Cellular. If you use Dual SIM, tap the line you want to configure.
- Tap Wi‑Fi Calling, then turn on Wi‑Fi Calling on This iPhone.
- Tap Enable if prompted. Your carrier may ask you to enter or confirm an address for emergency services; keep it accurate and current.
- Open the Phone app and call a contact or dial a number as you normally would.
When Wi‑Fi Calling is available, Apple says “Wi‑Fi” appears after the carrier name in the status bar; the indicator may also appear in Control Center. The feature uses your carrier’s phone service over Wi‑Fi—it is not a separate internet-calling app. Both a working Wi‑Fi connection and carrier support are required. See Apple’s Wi‑Fi Calling setup instructions.

What to know before relying on Wi‑Fi Calling for emergencies
If cellular service is available, the iPhone routes emergency calls over cellular. If cellular service is unavailable and Wi‑Fi Calling is enabled, an emergency call may use Wi‑Fi; connection and location accuracy are not guaranteed. Apple advises that traditional cellular or fixed-line service is preferable for location reliability and that Wi‑Fi Calling should be a last resort for emergency calls.
Location information from the device may help emergency responders even if Location Services is off. Some carriers may instead use the emergency address registered to your account. Keep that address current: Apple warns that an outdated address may prevent emergency services from being routed properly. Emergency alerts may not arrive while you are connected to Wi‑Fi Calling. Read Apple’s Wi‑Fi Calling privacy and emergency-call information.
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Why can’t I turn on Wi‑Fi Calling?
Carrier support varies by country or region, and account or plan requirements vary by carrier. For example, AT&T’s published requirements include a postpaid wireless account provisioned with HD Voice; that is an AT&T-specific condition, not a general rule. Check your carrier’s eligibility requirements if the option is missing or activation fails. Apple’s support page also recommends making sure the iPhone has current software.
How to troubleshoot Wi‑Fi Calling
Try these steps in order. Apple recommends waiting two minutes between troubleshooting steps; not every Wi‑Fi network supports Wi‑Fi Calling.

- Restart the iPhone.
- Connect to a different Wi‑Fi network.
- Turn Wi‑Fi Calling off, wait two minutes, then turn it on again for the intended line.
- If it still does not work, reset network settings. This resets the iPhone’s network settings, so use it only after the earlier checks.
- Contact your carrier if you still cannot enable or use the feature.
What information may be shared for Wi‑Fi Calling?
Apple says the country where a Wi‑Fi Calling-enabled device connects may be inferred from its IP address or cellular network, as applicable, and sent to the carrier for billing and service availability. For short-code calls placed over Wi‑Fi or cellular data, the city from which the call is placed may be provided to the carrier for routing. See Apple’s Wi‑Fi Calling privacy notice and your carrier’s terms for details.
