What does umux restore when you reopen it?
The CrystalPlatforms repository describes umux as a desktop terminal workspace manager. Its documented restore behavior covers workspace arrangements, panels, layout, working directories, and shells. The README also identifies platform-specific configuration files for workspace definitions. See the CrystalPlatforms umux repository and README.
This describes saved workspace configuration, not necessarily the state of a command that was running inside a terminal. A shell can reopen in the same directory while a process that was previously running has stopped.
Do umux sessions and running commands survive closing the app?
The reviewed CrystalPlatforms documentation does not say that in-flight commands or processes remain alive after the app closes, crashes, or the computer shuts down or reboots. Workspace restoration alone is not proof of live-process persistence. Do not rely on a running task continuing unless documentation for your exact umux version explicitly confirms it.

How do I reattach to a session?
No verified step-by-step reattachment procedure for the CrystalPlatforms project is established in the reviewed repository materials. The documentation describes restoring workspace state, but not a daemon-managed handshake that reconnects to a process that stayed alive. Check documentation or release notes for the exact product and version before using any purported reattachment steps.
Is it safe to shut down umux while a command is running?
The available project documentation does not specify what happens to a running command for each shutdown action, including closing the window, quitting the app, stopping a daemon, force-terminating the app, or shutting down the machine. It therefore does not support a blanket assurance that any of those actions are safe for ongoing work. If a command matters, let it finish or use a separately documented process-persistence method before shutting down.

Does umux preserve processes after a computer restart?
No such guarantee is established in the reviewed CrystalPlatforms materials. They describe restoring workspace settings after a restart, not keeping an operating-system process alive through shutdown or reboot. A reboot ends ordinary local processes; do not confuse reopened panels or shells with a still-running command.
Could “umux” refer to another product or version?
Yes. A secondary report dated October 3, 2026 describes a umux 1.7 series, a Storestation daemon, reattachment handshakes, and shutdown behavior. Those details are not confirmed by the reviewed CrystalPlatforms repository, whose materials describe a different release line. Without confirming the product identity and consulting its official release notes, those lifecycle claims should not be applied to CrystalPlatforms’ umux. Compare against the official CrystalPlatforms project materials.

Can umux connect to remote machines over SSH?
The README documents SSH panels for remote machines using the local SSH agent and keys on Linux and macOS. In the reviewed README, Windows SSH support is described as planned for v2.0. SSH panels are an adjacent remote-access feature; they do not establish that local sessions or processes persist on a remote host, nor do they document a reattachment procedure.
