Build your team around abilities that activate at compatible times, target useful allies or enemies, and work from positions that let them connect. Use the untimed shop phase to check those interactions before you press Battle: fights then resolve automatically, so formation and ability choices are your main opportunities to shape each round.
How team-building works in Batomon Showdown
B atomon Showdown is an asynchronous auto-battler. Each run alternates between an untimed shop and automatic battles against saved boards from the same day. You can field up to six Batomon on a 3×2 board, and the normal objective is to reach 10 wins before losing all your lives. A knocked-out Batomon does not end the fight by itself: each side has one shared battle HP pool. The game’s play guide explains the run structure and life rules.
You begin with 10 lives. A loss costs 1 life on days 1–2, 2 on days 3–4, and 3 from day 5 onward. The first time your lives reach zero, Second Chance returns you to 1 life and opens a reward event; if they run out again, the run ends. This rising cost makes it especially important to avoid taking a fragile board into day 5.
Choose a plan based on ability timing and targets
Start by reading what each ability does, then connect its timing to the rest of your board. The game documents start-of-battle, on-cast, ongoing, knockout, and victory effects. A strong team is not just a collection of high-stat units: abilities can reinforce one another when they activate in a useful sequence, while individually powerful Batomon may contribute little if their effects do not line up. See the mechanics guide for the documented trigger categories.

- Compatible with Windows and Android.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
- Timing: Identify when the ability activates and whether another unit needs to act first.
- Target: Check whether it affects an ally, an enemy, a particular slot, a direction, or nearby Batomon.
- Payoff: Ask what the effect enables next, such as helping an ally survive or setting up another trigger.
These checks are a way to evaluate the board you have, not a guarantee that a particular combination will win. Shop offers vary, so adapt the plan to the abilities and units available in the current run.
Arrange units around the board’s actual geometry
The six board slots form a 3×2 layout. Adjacency is orthogonal: a Batomon can be adjacent horizontally or vertically, but not diagonally. If an ability depends on adjacent units, a direction, or a specific slot, place its user where the documented target can be reached. The mechanics reference describes these targeting rules.

It introduces powerful new features such as gyro settings, stick curve adjustments, and button-to-mouse mapping, giving you deeper customization and more control than ever before.
Before selecting Battle, check the whole formation rather than only the strongest unit. Confirm that adjacency-dependent abilities have the intended neighbors and that slot- or direction-based effects point where you expect. Once battle begins, combat is automatic; there is no tactical turn-by-turn input to correct a poor setup.
Protect the shared HP pool and plan for harder losses
Each side’s battle HP belongs to the team, not to an individual Batomon. Shield absorbs incoming damage before it reaches that shared HP, while Heal restores the pool subject to its battle maximum. A defensive or healing unit therefore contributes to the survival of the whole board. For details, see the Team HP mechanics page.

- Plug and Play Convenience: Wired USB connection (removable) for easy setup and instant play without the need for additional drivers.

Keep the run’s life schedule in view when weighing immediate power against a longer-term plan. Losses cost three lives from day 5 onward, so a board that needs several future shop visits to come together carries a real survival trade-off. The shop is untimed, giving you room to inspect your current setup and available offers before committing to a battle.
Merge when the payoff fits your current board
The standard merge path takes three matching level-1 copies to make a level-2 Batomon, then two level-2 copies to make level 3. A merge opens a trinket gift. Special effects, not ordinary merges, are required to reach level 4. These rules are covered in the play guide and the mechanics reference.

Consider both the complete recipe and the board’s immediate needs before committing resources to a merge. The shop has five slots; shop rank changes rarity odds, but does not guarantee a particular offer. A normal reroll costs 3 gold. In practice, weigh the gold and time needed to finish a recipe against whether the current board needs strength now. That decision depends on your life total, the units already acquired, and whether the resulting team still has coherent ability interactions.

These are the 10-win rates Batomon.com reported for its community meta companion in 2026; the percentages apply only to the listed sample and page filters. The smaller samples behind some of the higher rates make them especially unsuitable as standalone proof that one composition is superior. Treat the teams as ideas to inspect, then consider whether their units and merge demands fit the offers and life situation in your own run.
Quick Recap
A practical shop-phase checklist
- Read each ability: Note its trigger timing and exact target.
- Look for a connected plan: Prefer combinations whose effects enable, protect, or otherwise complement one another.
- Check formation: Place units according to orthogonal adjacency, slot, and direction requirements.
- Review survival: Consider the team’s shared HP, Shield, Heal, remaining lives, and the higher loss cost from day 5.
- Compare a merge with an immediate upgrade: Account for the full recipe, the trinket gift, the 3-gold normal reroll cost, and the uncertainty of future shop offers.
- Press Battle only after the board is set: The shop has no timer, but the fight is automatic once selected.
