Lenovo’s Tab One is the clearest compact standard-Android candidate; Verizon lists Samsung’s larger Galaxy Tab A9+ 5G for shoppers who want to investigate a carrier-connected option. Amazon’s Fire HD 8 (2024) is another compact choice, but it runs Fire OS rather than the standard Google Play experience.
What to look for in an Ellipsis 7 replacement
Verizon labels the discontinued device the “Quanta Ellipsis 7” and points visitors toward similar devices and support information (Verizon Ellipsis 7 product page). Its historical user guide describes familiar Android functions such as Wi-Fi, app management, Bluetooth, USB file transfer, and app installation through Google Play or other sources (Verizon Ellipsis 7 user guide). That makes app compatibility a central question: a tablet that looks similar but lacks the apps you rely on may not be a practical replacement. The old guide is not evidence of current app compatibility or security support.
- Operating system and apps: Decide whether you need standard Android with Google Play or can use Amazon’s Fire OS app ecosystem.
- Size: The Ellipsis 7 was in the nominal seven-inch class. The compact candidates below have larger screens, so check dimensions and weight if portability is the priority.
- Connectivity: A Verizon listing or 5G label does not by itself establish that a specific unit can be activated on your plan. Confirm the exact model and plan eligibility with the seller or Verizon.
- Storage: Compare built-in capacity and microSD support against the space your apps and files need.
- Software support: Prefer a model with documented update commitments, and verify the offer applies to the exact model being sold.

Best compact standard-Android candidate: Lenovo Tab One
The Tab One is the strongest fit among these choices if you want a compact tablet with standard Android rather than Fire OS. Lenovo lists an 8.7-inch HD display with 1340 × 800 resolution and says OS upgrades are available through Android 15, alongside two years of security patches.
