To set up a Verizon Ellipsis 7 after a factory reset, charge it with the supplied charger, hold the Power/Lock key until the screen turns on, then follow the Setup Wizard. It guides you through language, device activation, a Google Account, and shortcut choices. A Wi-Fi or account setup issue is separate from activating cellular service.
What the reset changed
A factory data reset returns the tablet to its factory defaults. Verizon’s Ellipsis 7 User Guide says it erases Google or other email account settings, system and application data and settings, and downloaded applications. The next time the tablet starts, it prompts you to set it up again.
If you have not reset the tablet yet and can still open Settings, the guide gives this route: Apps > Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset, then follow the on-screen prompts. This erases data; if you have already reset it, continue with startup below.
Run the Setup Wizard
- Charge the tablet. Verizon recommends fully charging it before use and using the supplied charger. The tablet has a non-removable internal battery.
- Turn it on. Press and hold the Power/Lock key until the screen lights up.
- Choose the display language. Select a language when prompted.
- Complete the setup prompts. The documented wizard includes device activation, Google Account setup, and adding shortcuts. Follow the options shown on screen; the guide says settings can be changed later in Settings.
The guide cautions that screens and instructions may vary with software version and changed settings. If a prompt differs from these descriptions, use the tablet’s on-screen instructions.

Keep Wi-Fi setup separate from cellular activation
Getting through the Setup Wizard and getting Verizon cellular service are related but distinct. The Ellipsis 7 guide says a Verizon 4G LTE SIM may need to be installed. It describes a SIM included with a device bought in a Verizon store as activated and ready, while a card included with a newly ordered device may require activation. Those are the guide’s legacy instructions; they do not establish that Verizon currently offers service for this model or that a particular SIM is compatible.
Verizon’s Smart Setup page offers general setup and activation help for phones, tablets, and watches, but it does not specifically confirm support or current cellular compatibility for the Ellipsis 7. If the wizard itself is the problem, address startup first; if startup completes but cellular service does not, check current carrier guidance separately.

If it is stuck on “Welcome” or shows “No command”
Verizon Community posts report Ellipsis 7 devices frozen on “Welcome” or showing “No command.” These are user-reported symptoms, not verified diagnoses. The official guide documents the normal Setup Wizard but does not establish a recovery-mode button sequence for either screen.
- Make sure the tablet has been charged with the supplied charger, then try powering it on again.
- If the Setup Wizard appears but a Wi-Fi or Google Account step fails, treat that as a setup or sign-in issue rather than proof that cellular activation is required.
- If the tablet remains stuck or shows “No command,” seek device-specific guidance from Verizon or a qualified repair provider. Current support for this retired model is not established; avoid relying on unverified button sequences or firmware downloads.

Optional storage
A MicroSD card is not required for setup. The Ellipsis 7 guide specifies support for cards up to 32 GB and says the card is sold separately. Confirm a specific card’s fit and availability before buying.
