No—Apple says an internet connection is required to use Siri on iPhone. Some Apple Intelligence processing happens on the device, but that does not mean Siri is generally available offline. For offline voice control of an iPhone, use Voice Control, a separate accessibility feature that works after its initial download.
Does Siri work without internet on iPhone?
Apple Support’s iPhone guide states: “You must be connected to the internet to use Siri.” The guidance applies regardless of whether you activate Siri by voice, with a button, or through connected headphones. Typing a request instead of speaking changes how you enter it; it does not remove Apple’s stated connectivity requirement.
A particular device or configuration may behave differently with cached information, but Apple’s guidance does not establish a reliable set of Siri commands that work offline. Don’t count on Siri as an offline assistant.
Why on-device Apple Intelligence does not mean offline Siri
Apple says many Apple Intelligence models run entirely on-device in many cases. Requests that need more computational capacity may use Private Cloud Compute, which relies on server-based models. Those are descriptions of how some processing is handled, not a promise that Siri can be used without a network connection.

Apple Intelligence and Siri availability can vary by device, language, country, and region. Check Apple’s current guidance for your device and software before relying on a particular feature.
Use Voice Control for offline voice commands
If you need to operate an iPhone by voice while offline, Voice Control is the relevant built-in alternative. It is an accessibility feature for controlling onscreen actions and for dictation and editing—not another name for Siri or a way to ask Siri questions. Apple says: “After iPhone completes a one-time file download from Apple, you don’t need an internet connection to use Voice Control.”

Set it up before you go offline
- While connected to Wi-Fi, open Settings > Accessibility > Voice Control.
- Turn on Voice Control and allow the initial file download to complete.
- Once setup is complete, use Voice Control’s commands to control the interface or dictate and edit text without an internet connection.
Voice Control has its own command behavior and is designed for device control. It does not provide Siri’s assistant functions.
