Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchIf calls, texts, or cellular data stop working on an iPhone using AT&T, first identify whether the problem affects one feature or all cellular service. Check the iPhone’s status bar, try a brief network reconnection, and then work through the setting or message-type checks that match the symptom. Only AT&T can verify your line, account, local outage, and carrier-side provisioning; Apple’s steps below are general iPhone troubleshooting.
Start by narrowing down the failure
Note what fails: outgoing calls, incoming calls, texts, cellular data, or all cellular service. Also note whether the problem affects one contact or app, one location or several, and whether it began after a SIM/eSIM or software change. These distinctions help separate an iPhone setting from a coverage, account, or network issue.
- SOS, No Service, or Searching: the iPhone is not connected to a mobile network. Coverage, a local outage, line status, SIM/eSIM, and account setup are useful checks. Apple’s guidance for SOS, No Service, or Searching explains these indicators.
- Only calls fail: check call-related settings and whether the issue affects one caller or every call.
- Only messages fail: distinguish iMessage from carrier-delivered SMS, MMS, or RCS before changing settings.
- Only data fails: check cellular data, app access, and the selected line if you use Dual SIM.
Try a basic reconnection, then check AT&T service
- Open Control Center or Settings and turn on Airplane Mode. Wait at least 15 seconds, then turn it off. Test calls, messages, or data again.
- Restart the iPhone and test again.
- If practical, test in another location. A problem limited to one place may point to local coverage or an outage rather than an iPhone setting.
- Contact AT&T to check that the line is active and in good standing, the device and plan are set up for the line, and there is no local outage, billing block, provisioning issue, or carrier-side error. Apple notes that only the wireless provider can access account details. Apple’s call troubleshooting guidance and its no-service guidance both direct account and network checks to the carrier.
Install carrier settings and iOS updates
Connect to Wi-Fi, then open Settings > General > About and wait briefly. If an update to carrier or network-provider settings is offered, install it. Apple says a new SIM can require carrier settings for that provider. Also check for an iOS update in Settings > General > Software Update. Menu wording and availability can vary by iOS version and device configuration. See Apple’s network-service troubleshooting and SIM guidance.
If iPhone calls are not working
If other cellular features work but calls fail or incoming calls are missed, review call-specific settings:

If you can’t send or receive texts
First identify the message type. iMessage uses Wi-Fi or mobile data; SMS, MMS, and RCS depend on carrier service. A failure with one type does not necessarily mean the other types are affected.

- Open Settings > Cellular and make sure Cellular Data is on.
- In the same settings area, check that the affected app is allowed to use cellular data.
- If you use Dual SIM, confirm that the intended line is selected for cellular data.
- If traveling, ask AT&T about your plan and destination before enabling data roaming. Availability and charges depend on the plan and location.
Apple’s cellular data settings guide describes these controls.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. If the iPhone reports No SIM or an invalid SIM
First confirm with AT&T that the line has an active plan. Restart the iPhone and check for a carrier settings update. If you use a physical SIM, power down the iPhone as appropriate for your model, remove the SIM, check that it is seated correctly, and reinsert it. Persistent problems may mean the SIM is damaged or incompatible and needs replacement. For eSIM setup or an eSIM error, contact AT&T rather than trying to reseat a card. Apple’s SIM troubleshooting guidance covers these checks.

- 1.The antenna is to be placed outside of the car window.
- 2. The square repeater is to be placed inside of the car window (Make sure the square repeater is aligned right below the antenna).
- 3. This device is to be used in automobiles only, if you want to use this at your home PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION BELOW.
- 4. For best signal improvement, the booster must be installed at least 3 feet away from your phone or installation location. This spacing allows the passive antenna to capture and redirect existing tower signal effectively.
- DISCLAIMER: Passive Booster (Non-Amplified): Does not create or amplify signal — only redirects existing signal from nearby towers. Performance Depends on Environment: Car construction, terrain, and carrier coverage impact results. Not for zero-signal areas: A minimum existing signal is required for the passive booster to redirect.
Reset network settings only after simpler checks
A network-settings reset can help when basic reconnection, updates, and relevant setting checks have not resolved the problem. It does not erase personal content, but it removes network configuration and previously used Wi-Fi and VPN settings; saved preferred networks and VPN/APN settings may also be removed, and roaming may be switched off. Be prepared to reconnect to Wi-Fi and restore any network settings you need.
- Open Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset.
- Tap Reset Network Settings and confirm. Do not choose an erase option.
- After the iPhone restarts, reconnect to Wi-Fi, review network-related settings, and test cellular service. If possible, test in another location as well.
Apple documents the effects of this reset in its reset settings guide.
When to contact AT&T or Apple
Ask AT&T to check account standing, billing blocks, coverage, outages, line provisioning, device setup, carrier messaging, and network-side errors. These are not visible in the iPhone’s ordinary settings. If AT&T confirms the account and network are functioning but a device fault is suspected, contact Apple; Apple says service may be needed. On supported iPhone models running iOS 18 or later, the Apple Support app may offer additional diagnostics. See Apple’s call troubleshooting guidance and network-service guidance.
