The best alternative depends on what you need to practise: job-specific answers, spoken delivery, technical problems, or the give-and-take of a real conversation. Options include spoken AI mock interviews, answer and question resources, delivery-feedback tools, and live peer practice. They are not interchangeable: choose the format that addresses your weakest part of the interview.

Choose by the skill you want to improve

  • Building stronger answers: Use question banks, courses, or tools that turn a job description into practice prompts. These can help you prepare examples and structure, but generated questions are not predictions of what an employer will ask.
  • Speaking clearly under pressure: Try spoken AI roleplay or a tool that records answers and offers delivery feedback. Check whether feedback covers answer content, pace, filler words, clarity, or video presentation; a score alone may not explain what to change.
  • Practising role-specific technical rounds: Look for formats designed for the role, such as coding interviews with a shared editor. A general behavioral-interview tool is not a substitute for technical practice.
  • Getting human interaction: A peer mock adds a live interviewer and follow-up conversation. It also requires scheduling and another participant.

These distinctions are based on product descriptions, not independent hands-on testing. Features, access terms, and data practices can change, so check the linked service pages before signing up or sharing recordings.

AI and peer interview practice alternatives

Aced: scheduled practice with another person

Aced’s practice page describes scheduled one-to-one video interviews, matching based on availability and practice needs, and formats for different roles. Technical interviews can use a shared code editor. This is a fit when you want another person to react and ask follow-ups, rather than practising alone with an AI.

Aced says free users receive monthly practice credits and members have unlimited access; check the current terms for the exact allowance. Its FAQ says Pramp is now Aced. The FAQ also describes AI transcript grading for selected formats as an early-access feature available to members, so it should not be treated as a standard feature for every practice session.

NailedIt.ai: spoken practice from a job posting or title

NailedIt.ai says you can paste a job posting or enter a job title, answer questions aloud, receive follow-up questions, and review a scorecard with a transcript. That makes it useful for rehearsing out loud against a role-specific prompt. The prompts remain practice questions: the company notes that nobody outside an employer knows the exact questions it will use.

The service says its grader assesses five skills and does not judge a person’s face, voice, or accent. It also warns that the grader may be wrong, so treat its feedback as a prompt for reflection rather than an authoritative assessment. On privacy, the company says it does not keep audio and retains transcript and scorecard data for 365 days. Review its current policy before uploading sensitive information.

Other formats: question banks, courses, and delivery feedback

Some alternatives are not conversational partners. Content-focused tools help generate or organise questions, practise STAR-style answers, or follow a course. Delivery-focused tools may surface signals such as pace, filler words, or eye contact. These can complement a mock interview, but their feedback is different from a human interviewer’s judgment of whether an answer is convincing or relevant.

EchoPitch’s comparison groups services into content tools, delivery tools, peer practice, and live-interview copilots. Its price information is described as checked in September 2026; those are comparison-publisher summaries, not independently verified current quotes. Check a provider’s own page for current features and pricing. A live-interview copilot is a different category from rehearsal software; review employer rules before considering any tool intended for use during an actual interview.

When a book is a better supplement

For AI and machine-learning technical roles, the Deep Learning Interviews book publication record describes a second edition of solved questions across deep-learning topics, aimed in part at students and job seekers preparing for interviews or exams. It can support subject-matter study, but a book does not simulate a spoken interview or provide a live practice partner.

A practical way to combine formats

  1. Prepare content: Build examples for the role using a question bank, course, or job-posting prompts. Focus on clear, relevant answers rather than memorising generated questions.
  2. Practise aloud: Use spoken AI roleplay or record an answer to notice where you lose structure, clarity, or pace.
  3. Test the conversation: Schedule a peer mock when you need to respond to a person’s follow-up questions or practise a technical round with another participant.
  4. Check the trade-offs: Before choosing a service, confirm its current access limits, role coverage, feedback format, and retention policy.
