Meta Muse has a free tier, but it is usage-limited—not unlimited. Meta says you can wait for the limit to refresh or subscribe when you reach it. Its public FAQ does not state the free quota or how long a refresh takes. Muse is rolling out in the United States through iOS, Android, the web, and WhatsApp; the sources available do not establish what sign-in account Muse requires.
What you get with Muse’s free tier
Meta’s Muse FAQ says the service is available for free with a usage limit. If you reach that limit, Meta says you can wait for it to refresh or upgrade to a subscription.
The FAQ does not publish a number of messages, tasks, or tokens included, nor a refresh interval. That means there is no substantiated way to calculate how long the free tier will last for a particular user. Avoid treating it as unlimited or relying on a specific quota.
What happens when you hit the limit?
Meta identifies two choices: wait for the free limit to refresh, or upgrade. It does not specify the reset schedule or publish a usage meter that explains how much quota a particular task consumes.

Muse is described by Meta as a personal agent that can browse, use connected apps, perform multi-step tasks, and keep working in the background. Users choose which apps to connect, and Meta says Muse asks permission before certain actions, including sending email or making a purchase. Axios reported that heavier business use and token consumption can contribute to users hitting limits, but neither source gives a task-by-task quota formula. See Meta’s Muse announcement and Axios’s September 29, 2026 report.
How much do Muse subscriptions cost?
Meta confirms that subscription plans are available for people who want to do more, but its September 2026 announcement does not list prices. Axios reported two tiers on September 29, 2026:
Rank #2
| Plan price reported | What is established |
|---|---|
| $20 per month | Axios reported this subscription price on September 29, 2026; the available sources do not establish a specific feature or usage allocation for this tier. |
| $100 per month | Axios reported this subscription price on September 29, 2026; the available sources do not establish a specific feature or usage allocation for this tier. |
Whether a subscription is worthwhile depends on how often you hit the free limit, whether waiting is practical, and your monthly budget. Check the current sign-up and plan details before subscribing, since rollout and pricing information can change.
Where can you use Meta Muse?
Meta says Muse is rolling out in the United States on iOS, Android, and the web, and that people can use it in the Muse app or directly in WhatsApp. A rollout is not confirmation of worldwide availability. The Associated Press reported US-only availability at launch.
Rank #3
The AP also reported that Muse was for people 18 and over at launch. Meta’s cited announcement does not spell out an age rule, so treat 18+ as launch reporting rather than a confirmed universal current requirement. Check the current eligibility information shown during sign-up.
Do you need a Facebook or Meta account?
The available Muse materials identify the app and WhatsApp as access routes but do not specify whether Muse requires a Meta account, whether WhatsApp sign-in alone is sufficient, or whether account verification or standing checks apply. The requirement is therefore not established by these sources. Do not assume that requirements for Meta AI apply to Muse; they are distinct products.
Rank #4
Should you stay on the free tier or subscribe?
- Stay free if the available access works for you and waiting for a limit refresh is acceptable.
- Consider a subscription if you regularly hit the limit and the current plan details justify the cost for your use.
- Check availability first if you are outside the United States or unsure whether your age or account is eligible.
Meta’s public FAQ, accessed October 4, 2026, does not quantify free usage or its refresh interval. Subscription amounts above are Axios’s September 29, 2026 reporting, not prices stated in Meta’s announcement.
