What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Keep the camera area away from grit and hard objects, and use a clean case made for your exact foldable model. If you want the case to keep the lenses from touching a surface, check that its camera surround actually rises above them. A separate lens guard is optional: Samsung warns that some camera covers and tempered glass can affect photos, focusing, fit, or removal.
Keep grit and hard objects away from the camera
Sand and other small particles can scratch or dent a foldable device. Avoid setting the phone camera-side down on gritty surfaces, and clear debris from the case and camera area before putting the phone away. Samsung’s foldable-device care guidance cautions that particles such as sand can damage the device.
Keep sharp objects and excessive pressure away from the camera. Samsung specifically says not to press a screen or front camera lens with a sharp object, such as a pen or fingernail. Don’t use the camera area as a surface to push against when handling the phone.
Choose a case for the exact foldable model
Foldable-phone cases are model-specific, and camera layouts can differ. Check the case’s stated compatibility and make sure it sits securely without covering or crowding the camera openings. Samsung’s phone-accessories page lists case availability by model; it does not guarantee that every case has a raised camera edge.

If your goal is to keep the lenses from contacting a table or other surface, inspect the case or its product specifications for a camera surround that stands above the lenses. Don’t assume a case provides this protection based on its appearance alone.
Decide whether to add a separate lens guard
A lens guard adds a physical layer, but it can also introduce drawbacks. Samsung’s camera-accessory warning, published July 31, 2024, says non-genuine camera covers or tempered glass may reduce image quality, interfere with focusing or distance recognition, trap moisture or debris, affect case fit, or cause damage or scratches when removed. See Samsung Korea’s camera-cover guidance.

Which protection option makes sense?
| Option | What to check | Tradeoff |
|---|---|---|
| Model-specific case | Exact model compatibility, secure fit, clear camera openings, and whether the camera surround rises above the lenses. | Can help keep the camera area off a surface; a raised surround is not guaranteed for every case. |
| Separate lens guard | Exact camera-array fit, case compatibility, product instructions, and removal method. | Adds a physical layer, but may affect image quality, focus or distance recognition, trap moisture or debris, interfere with fit, or cause damage during removal. |
Check the camera area as part of routine care
- Before putting the phone away, check for grit around the camera and inside the case.
- When setting the phone down, avoid gritty or dirty surfaces and keep the camera area from rubbing against hard objects.
- If using a lens guard, follow its maker’s instructions for installation and removal rather than forcing it off.
