Turn off and unplug your Galaxy phone, then gently wipe each camera lens with a clean, soft, dry microfiber cloth or camera lens cloth. Use very light pressure. Samsung warns that pressing too hard, using paper towels or tissues, or applying liquids and cleaning solutions can scratch or damage the lens or let moisture reach internal components.
Clean the camera lenses gently
- Power down and prepare the phone. Turn it off, unplug any cables, and remove a case or accessory if it blocks access to the camera area.
- Choose a suitable cloth. Use a clean, soft, dry, lint-free microfiber cloth or a camera lens cleaning cloth. A dirty or rough cloth can transfer grit or cause abrasion.
- Wipe with minimal pressure. Gently wipe each lens to remove dust and smudges. If your Galaxy has multiple rear or front cameras, clean each lens rather than only the one you usually use.
- Stop if a mark does not lift easily. Make another gentle pass with the dry cloth; do not scrub harder or add liquid or cleaning solution.
Samsung’s camera-specific guidance is to switch off the phone and gently wipe the lens with a soft, dry cloth, using microfiber if needed. It cautions that excess pressure can scratch or damage the lens.
What not to use on a Galaxy camera lens
- Paper towels or tissues: Samsung warns that they can scratch the lens.
- Liquids or cleaning solutions: Samsung advises against applying them to the camera lens because they may damage it or seep into internal components. Follow this camera-specific direction even if the phone is water-resistant.
- Heavy pressure or abrasive wiping: Pressing harder is not a safer way to remove a stubborn smudge; it can damage the lens.
If photos are still blurry after cleaning
Do not keep rubbing the lens. Check whether a camera protector or other accessory is affecting focus or clarity; Samsung notes that accessories can cause these problems. If the image remains blurry or shows another camera issue, consult Samsung’s camera-quality troubleshooting guidance or contact Samsung Support.
Why lens advice differs from general phone cleaning
Samsung’s general Galaxy-device cleaning guide allows a slightly damp cloth for stubborn dirt on device surfaces. That broader advice is not for the camera lens: Samsung’s lens-specific instructions say to avoid liquids and cleaning solutions there. For the lens, stick with a dry, soft cloth.
