Neither is a clear overall winner: JLR’s Sport figures are estimates pending certification, the Porsche numbers vary by trim and market, and their acceleration claims use different test speeds.
How do their ranges compare?
JLR’s current UK Range Rover Sport Electric page lists up to 378 miles (609 km) WLTP and estimates up to 333 miles (535 km) in real-world use. JLR says the manufacturer estimates will be replaced by certified test figures when available. It also notes that real-world range varies with factors including driving style, environment, load, wheels, accessories, route and battery condition. Treat both figures as claims, not independently verified results.
Porsche’s international product page lists 2027 Macan Electric variants with WLTP ranges that differ by trim:
| 2027 international Macan variant | Published WLTP range |
|---|---|
| Macan | 547–641 km |
| Macan 4 | 526–611 km |
| Macan 4S | 523–611 km |
| Macan GTS | 529–585 km |
| Macan Turbo | 527–589 km |
These are Porsche’s figures for the variants on its international 2027 page; they are not a real-world comparison with JLR’s estimated 333 miles. The published WLTP spans put the base Macan’s upper figure above the Sport’s current WLTP claim, but JLR’s figures remain provisional until certification. Use the specific variant and local-market specification when comparing vehicles.

Which is quicker, and what do the performance figures mean?
JLR lists the Sport Electric at 0–60 mph in 4.3 seconds with Dynamic Launch Mode and up to 850 Nm of torque. Its 2026 newsroom release specifies two 260 kW motors, up to 550 PS and an 800 V architecture.
Porsche publishes 0–100 km/h Launch Control times for its international 2027 Macan variants. Its fastest stated figure is for the Turbo; the lower trims have different outputs and times.
| Vehicle or variant | Published acceleration claim | Published power |
|---|---|---|
| Range Rover Sport Electric | 0–60 mph in 4.3 sec, with Dynamic Launch Mode | Up to 550 PS; two 260 kW motors |
| Macan | 0–100 km/h in 5.7 sec, with Launch Control | 265 kW / 360 PS overboost with Launch Control |
| Macan 4 | 0–100 km/h in 5.2 sec, with Launch Control | Published output depends on variant; see Porsche’s international product page |
| Macan 4S | 0–100 km/h in 4.1 sec, with Launch Control | Published output depends on variant; see Porsche’s international product page |
| Macan GTS | 0–100 km/h in 3.8 sec, with Launch Control | Published output depends on variant; see Porsche’s international product page |
| Macan Turbo | 0–100 km/h in 3.3 sec, with Launch Control | Up to 470 kW / 639 PS overboost with Launch Control |
The acceleration metrics are not identical: JLR quotes 0–60 mph, while Porsche quotes 0–100 km/h, and both specify a launch mode. Do not read the times as a direct like-for-like test. Porsche’s listed performance also depends on selecting a trim; its Turbo figure is not representative of every Macan Electric.

How do charging claims compare?
JLR lists a 118.5 kWh battery and says the Sport Electric can charge from 10% to 80% in about 22 minutes. It also claims up to 220 km of added range in ten minutes. These are manufacturer figures; charging speed and added range depend on the charger and conditions.
Porsche’s current international page lists a 21-minute 10–80% DC charging time under optimal conditions. Porsche specifies that this assumes, among other things, a CCS fast charger above 270 kW, suitable voltage and battery temperature. Its January 2024 technical release describes a 100 kWh gross battery with up to 95 kWh usable capacity, DC charging up to 270 kW and household AC charging up to 11 kW.

- Miniature Collectible: Authentic 1:64 scale die-cast model of the Tesla Model Y, a compact electric SUV.
- Detailed Design: Intricately crafted with opening doors and a removable chassis, showcasing the vehicle's distinct features.
- Limited Edition: Part of the Matchbox series, numbered 3/100 in the collection.
- Vibrant Color: Striking blue finish that captures the eye and adds a touch of vibrancy.
- Compact Size: Measuring approximately 3 inches long, perfect for display or playtime.
The one-minute difference between the headline 10–80% times is not enough to establish a practical charging winner: the published times depend on conditions and the vehicles’ specifications. At home, check regional connector compatibility, electrical supply, installation requirements and the exact vehicle specification before choosing a wallbox.
Which is more practical for passengers, luggage and towing?
Cargo space
Porsche’s January 2024 launch material gives the Macan up to 540 litres of rear cargo capacity with the rear seats up, an 84-litre front trunk and up to 1,348 litres with the rear seats folded. Capacity can depend on model and equipment. The official Range Rover sources cited here do not give a comparable cargo-volume figure, so the published material does not establish which has the larger boot.

JLR lists towing capacity of up to 2.5 tonnes for the Range Rover Sport Electric on its current UK page. Porsche’s 2024 launch release lists up to 2,000 kg for the Macan. A separate Porsche USA announcement for the 2026 model year says the Macan 4, 4S and Turbo can tow up to 5,500 lb. Keep that US model-year figure separate from the international launch specification; towing limits depend on market and variant. A trailer also adds load and can materially affect an EV’s range.

Warranty
JLR lists an eight-year or 100,000-mile (160,000-km) battery warranty, whichever comes first, subject to terms. The Porsche sources cited here do not establish a comparable warranty figure; check local warranty terms before comparing ownership coverage.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which one should you choose?
- Prioritise the published range claim: compare JLR’s provisional 378-mile WLTP figure and 333-mile estimated real-world figure with the exact Macan trim’s WLTP span. They are different kinds of evidence, so they do not prove which will travel farther in your use.
- Want the quickest published acceleration: the Macan Turbo has Porsche’s quickest listed Launch Control time, 3.3 seconds from 0–100 km/h. The Sport’s 4.3-second 0–60 mph claim uses a different metric; test the exact models you are considering.
- Need cargo figures before buying: Porsche publishes Macan cargo volumes, but the cited official Sport material does not provide a comparable figure. Measure your usual luggage or equipment in person rather than assuming the larger-looking vehicle has more usable cargo space.
- Plan to tow: compare the local-market rating for the exact variant and consider the effect of towing on range. Do not apply Porsche’s US 2026 figure to a different market or model year.
- Choose among Macan trims: the Macan’s acceleration and range vary by variant, so decide whether the base, 4, 4S, GTS or Turbo best fits your needs before comparing it with the Sport.
The official specifications do not settle a universal winner: there is no comparable cargo figure for the Sport in the cited sources, no independent back-to-back test, and no like-for-like acceleration measure. A test drive and a check of the exact local vehicle specifications are more useful than treating a single headline number as decisive.
