What does The Witcher 3 Complete Edition include?
The Complete Edition includes the base game and both major story expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. CD PROJEKT RED says expansion content is merged into the updated base game, while players can still start each expansion separately from the main menu. See the publisher’s Complete Edition FAQ.
The publisher says the standalone base game was replaced by the Complete Edition on affected storefronts, and the standalone expansions were delisted. Its FAQ says previous-generation console arrangements otherwise remain unchanged; owners of PS4 and Xbox One versions can download both expansions for free. Storefront availability can vary, so check the listing for your platform and region.
Should you buy it or use a game you already own?

For an existing digital copy, start with the account and library where you own the game rather than purchasing another edition. The publisher says to update the game to the latest version to install Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Check the platform store or support flow if the update or expansion entitlement does not appear.

Which platforms offer the Remastered edition?
CD PROJEKT RED’s September 29, 2026 release notice says the Remastered update is available on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Its current FAQ names PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 as the current-generation platform set. Read the release notice and check the FAQ.
The publisher’s August 25, 2026 announcement described pre-launch plans: it listed free upgrades for existing owners on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, said pre-purchase was available on Battle.net and Nintendo Switch 2, and said original Nintendo Switch owners could claim Remastered on Switch 2 when it released. Because that announcement predates launch, use the September 29 release notice and your current platform storefront to confirm the route that applies to you. Read the August announcement.

Do not assume every upgrade works the same way for every retailer, physical disc, console generation, account, or region. Confirm eligibility in the account and store where you own or plan to buy the game before paying.

The publisher’s FAQ says save files remain compatible, Cross Progression continues to function, and achievements and trophies remain unaffected, including those tied to the expansions. It does not promise every possible platform-to-platform save transfer. For My Rewards, CD PROJEKT RED says the feature is available to both base-game and Complete Edition players and describes cross-platform progression, but its page does not specify every platform-pair transfer condition. How to choose the right option
- Check what your account already owns. Look for the base game and either expansion in the platform library you use.
- If you own the base game, update it first. The publisher says the expansions are available to existing owners through the updated game; verify the entitlement in your platform account if they do not appear.
- Choose based on the platform you will play on. For Remastered, check the current listing on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Nintendo Switch 2 and confirm the specific upgrade or purchase route.
- Check before repurchasing across generations or stores. The publisher’s named routes do not establish universal eligibility for every disc, retailer, region, or account combination.
- Confirm the listing details. Price, regional availability, stock, and physical or digital format depend on the live store listing.
