Wash a resin G-SHOCK strap with water, then wipe it dry with a soft cloth. To help clear sweat odor, regularly remove sweat and moisture and let the strap dry completely. CASIO’s care guidance does not recommend vinegar, baking soda, bleach, alcohol, or a specialized deodorizer for resin straps.
Clean the strap with water and a soft cloth
- Wipe it regularly. Use a soft cloth to remove sweat, water, dirt, and other residue from the band.
- Rinse when needed. For a resin band, CASIO advises washing with water and then wiping dry with a soft cloth. If the watch has been exposed to seawater or mud, rinse it with clean fresh water. CASIO’s User Maintenance guidance gives this water-and-cloth method.
- Dry it thoroughly. Wipe the band dry and ensure it is fully dry before putting the watch away. Store an unused watch in a cool, dry place.
A soft absorbent or microfiber cloth is optional; the important point is to wipe away moisture and dry the band rather than leave it damp.
What to avoid on a resin strap
Keep the cleaning method simple. CASIO warns against thinner, gasoline, solvents, oils, and fats because they can discolor or damage resin. Its instructions for mild neutral detergent or soapy water apply to metal bands or resin bands with metal parts; they are not a general recommendation to soak a resin strap or the whole watch.
- Avoid leaving the band wet in storage or keeping it for long periods in a high-moisture environment.
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and strong rubbing, which can affect color. Printed areas may discolor if rubbed hard.
- Do not assume a household deodorizing remedy is safe or effective for the resin: CASIO’s reviewed care instructions do not establish that vinegar, baking soda, bleach, alcohol, or deodorizer should be used.
If the odor remains
Persistent odor is a reason to check that sweat and moisture are being wiped away and that the band dries completely. The manufacturer instructions describe care steps, but do not quantify odor or establish the cause of a particular band’s smell or the effectiveness of home remedies.

Inspect the strap for cracks, loss of flexibility, discoloration, looseness, or other abnormality. CASIO advises stopping use of a band with such signs and seeking inspection or replacement. Replacement compatibility depends on the exact G-SHOCK model, so check the model before choosing a part.
Skin irritation and odor-resistant bands
If the wearer develops a rash or other skin irritation, remove the watch and consult a skin-care professional. CASIO says an odor-resistant band feature on designated bands suppresses bacteria and organisms associated with sweat odor, but the band still needs to be kept clean; the feature does not prevent a rash caused by an allergic reaction. It should not be assumed that every G-SHOCK band has this feature. CASIO’s Operating Precautions describes the feature for applicable bands.
