If Logitech speakers have no sound, are crackling, or keep cutting out, first check the selected input, source playback device, and volume before assuming the speakers are broken. The right next step depends on the model and connection: Logitech’s documented guidance is especially specific for the Z407 (Bluetooth, AUX, and USB) and the wired Z623 (distortion). Steps for those models do not necessarily apply to every Logitech speaker.
Start with the model, input, and basic audio checks
Find the model name on the speakers, subwoofer, or product label, then identify how the source connects: Bluetooth, AUX, USB, or another input. Confirm that the speakers have power, the source is playing, mute is off, and the computer or phone is sending audio to the Logitech system rather than its built-in speakers or another output.
Raise both the source-device volume and the speaker volume to a moderate, audible level. For Z407 AUX troubleshooting, Logitech specifically suggests setting both to medium (50%); this is a model-specific check, not a calibrated setting for all Logitech products. Logitech’s Z407 no-audio guide
On the Z407, the indicator identifies the selected connection: blue is Bluetooth, purple is AUX, and white is USB. The system defaults to the last-used connection, so select the input that matches the device you are testing. Logitech’s Z407 no-audio guide Z407 connection instructions

Logitech speakers have no sound
If the Z407 is connected by Bluetooth
- Check that the source device is connected to the Z407 and selected for playback. The Z407 can connect to two devices at once, so disconnect the other paired device temporarily if it may be supplying or competing for audio.
- Move the source closer to the speakers and move nearby wireless devices away to reduce possible interference.
- Restart both the source and speakers. If there is still no sound, remove or unpair the Z407 from the source device, then pair it again.
- To pair, hold the Bluetooth button on the Z407 dial for two seconds to enter pairing mode, then choose “Logi Z407” in the source device’s Bluetooth menu. Logitech says the Z407 can pair with up to eight source devices and connect to two at a time. Z407 connection instructions
If the Z407 is connected by AUX
- Select AUX; the Z407 indicator should be purple.
- Reseat the cable at both ends and confirm it is a 3-pole male-to-male 3.5 mm cable.
- Test another source device and, if possible, another cable. This helps separate a cable or source problem from a speaker problem.
Logitech recommends trying another AUX cable when troubleshooting the Z407. A replacement or test cable should match the specified 3-pole 3.5 mm type; changing a cable is a diagnostic step, not a guaranteed repair. No-audio guidance Connection instructions
If the Z407 is connected by USB
- Select USB; the Z407 indicator should be white.
- Check the computer’s sound output setting and choose the Z407 as the playback device.
- Reseat the USB cable, then test a different cable, USB port, or computer if available.
- Unplug the speakers for about 10 seconds, reconnect them, and restart the computer if needed.
If Windows does not recognize the Z407, Logitech’s guidance is to check the device and audio driver in Device Manager, reconnect the speakers, reboot, and test playback. This does not mean every setup requires a separate Logitech audio-driver download. No-audio guidance Z407 not recognized by Windows

If the model is not a Z407
Use the model’s own instructions to select its input and check its connections; do not assume the Z407’s indicator colors, pairing controls, or USB behavior apply. If basic source, input, volume, and cable checks do not help, consult Logitech support for the exact model or arrange appropriate service. The available model-specific guidance here does not establish a universal repair procedure or diagnose internal amplifier failure.
Logitech speakers are crackling or distorted
Check the source, level, and connection first
For Z407, Logitech recommends checking that connections are secure, adjusting source and speaker volume, and testing another source device. With AUX or USB, try another cable where possible. If crackling occurs over Bluetooth, reduce the distance to the source and move other wireless signal sources away. Logitech’s guidance notes, “Move the other sources of wireless signal away — you could be experiencing interference.” Z407 distortion and dropout guidance

If one Z623 satellite distorts
The Z623 is a wired 2.1 system, not a Bluetooth speaker. Inspect the source-to-speaker and speaker-to-subwoofer connections, including cables and connectors, for looseness, damage, or corrosion. If only one satellite distorts, swap its connection at the subwoofer with the other satellite’s connection. If the symptom moves with the speaker, that speaker may be defective; if it stays with the connection, the cable or connector may be involved. This is a diagnostic clue, not a definitive test or repair. Logitech Z623 distortion guidance Z623 specifications

When Bluetooth drops out
For Z407 Bluetooth, test with the source closer to the speakers, reduce nearby wireless interference, and restart the source and speakers. If the connection remains unreliable, unpair and pair the devices again using the Z407 pairing steps above. These instructions are specific to the Z407, not a universal Bluetooth reset for Logitech speakers. Z407 distortion and dropout guidance

When USB or AUX drops out
For Z407 USB, reseat the cable and test another cable or port; if possible, check with another computer. For AUX, reseat both ends and try another cable and source device. If the dropout occurs only during internet streaming, test locally stored audio or another playback source: Logitech notes that streaming interruptions may come from the internet connection rather than the speakers. If the problem persists after checking the correct input, source output, volume, and relevant cable or wireless connection, use Logitech support for the exact model or seek appropriate service. These checks can help isolate whether the symptom follows a source, cable, input, or individual speaker, but they cannot confirm every hardware fault. The available instructions do not establish model-specific repair steps for every Logitech speaker, Mac-specific driver menus, or a diagnosis of internal amplifier failure.
