1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIf you’re deciding where your team should work with AI agents, the short answer is: use shared ChatGPT Projects for persistent AI-assisted work, Slack when agents should participate in team conversations, and Microsoft Teams Channel Agent when the work is rooted in Teams channels, meetings, and Microsoft 365 tasks. These tools can overlap rather than replace one another.
One terminology note: OpenAI’s product documentation describes shared Projects and workspace agents, not an official feature called “ChatGPT Spaces.” This comparison uses “Spaces” as shorthand for the shared-context experience, while distinguishing Projects from reusable workspace agents.
How the three options differ
They put human-agent collaboration in different places. ChatGPT Projects keep shared instructions, files, and AI conversations together around a goal. Slack brings agents into channels and conversations. Microsoft Teams Channel Agent works from channel and meeting context, with documented actions such as creating tasks and drafting email.
| Option | Where collaboration happens | Best fit | Access and availability considerations |
|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT shared Projects | A shared project with files, instructions, and project-scoped chats | Teams doing ongoing work that benefits from a common AI context and asynchronous conversations | Project membership and chat or edit rights govern collaboration. OpenAI’s September 25, 2025 announcement listed Business, Enterprise, and Edu; Enterprise and Edu were initially off by default, with administrator controls. Check current plan and tenant availability. |
| ChatGPT workspace agents | Reusable agents shared with members or groups, used in ChatGPT or Slack | Repeatable workflows that need connected tools or apps, scheduled runs, or reuse across a team | Sharing roles and administrator controls apply. Connector authentication determines what the agent can access and do. |
| Slack agents | One-to-one agent sessions, channel conversations, and agent sessions | Teams that want to discover agents and direct or review their work in the messaging stream | Workspace installation, app permissions, licensing, and rollout affect access. Channel interactions may be visible to members or private to the user. |
| Microsoft Teams Channel Agent | A Teams channel and related meeting activity | Teams that want channel-grounded status updates, Q&A, scheduling, task follow-up, or email work | Interaction requires a Copilot subscription, membership in the channel where the agent was created, and administrator permission to use Teams apps. Members without Copilot may see output but cannot interact. |
This is a comparison of documented workflows, not a feature-count contest: Projects provide shared AI context, Slack emphasizes agents in conversation, and Teams Channel Agent connects channel work with meetings and Microsoft 365 activities.

When shared ChatGPT Projects are the right home
Use a Project for work that needs persistent shared context
A shared Project gives members common files and instructions, with project memory scoped to that Project. Members can start a one-to-one conversation or branch another member’s conversation, making it useful when people need to work asynchronously without losing the same project context. Project editors can update instructions and files and manage invitations; members with chat access can use the shared project conversations.
Projects suit work such as a recurring research brief, a planning effort, or a team document that benefits from a stable set of reference files and instructions. They are less naturally a replacement for a real-time team messaging channel: OpenAI described the shared-project experience as an early step in team collaboration, not as a substitute for live chat.
Rank #2
Use a workspace agent for a workflow you want to reuse
Projects and workspace agents solve different problems. A Project organizes context for a shared goal; a workspace agent packages repeatable behavior. OpenAI documents building and previewing agents, connecting apps, tools, files, or custom MCPs, sharing agents with members or groups, scheduling runs, and using agents in Slack. Agent sharing supports chat and edit roles, while administrators can control who may build, run, and publish agents.
For Slack deployment, OpenAI says all agent app connections must use shared authentication. It recommends agent-owned service accounts with least privilege. Sharing an agent that uses the builder’s personal authenticated connections can allow other users to reach data or take actions through that person’s credentials. Treat the agent’s connector identity as part of the permission review, not merely a setup detail.

When Slack is the better collaboration surface
Keep agent work visible in the conversation
Slack’s model is useful when the team wants to find an agent, start a one-to-one conversation, add an agent or app to a channel, or mention it in a shared discussion. Slack’s help documentation notes that a channel interaction may be visible to channel members or private to the individual user. Its Agents & tools area supports discovering agents, resuming sessions, and tracking sessions; access to third-party apps and internally built agents depends on workspace installation and permissions.
Slack’s August 31, 2026 update describes “code channels”: dedicated channels where people can see conversation, code diffs, and previews while an agent works, then give feedback and sign off. The update also describes an Agents tab for sessions and status. These features are subject to rollout and licensing, so do not assume they appear in every Slack workspace.
Read Slack’s time-saved figure as a vendor claim
Slack’s undated AI feature page, accessed in 2026, says users can save an average of 97 minutes per week. Slack attributes that figure to an internal pilot analysis of channel recaps, thread summaries, and AI search answers. It is a vendor-reported pilot result, not an independent measurement or a head-to-head comparison with ChatGPT Projects or Teams.
When Microsoft Teams Channel Agent is the better fit
Use it when work starts in channels and meetings
Microsoft documents Channel Agent capabilities for generating status reports that a team can review and customize, using meeting transcripts as knowledge, suggesting meeting setup, creating tasks and reminders, answering questions in channels, group chats, and meetings, and drafting or sending emails. This makes it a natural fit when the team’s project record and follow-up already live in Teams.

The access requirements matter: a user needs a Microsoft Copilot subscription, membership in the channel where the agent was created, and administrator permission to use Teams apps to interact with it. A channel member without Copilot may still see the agent’s responses and generated content but cannot interact with the Channel Agent.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How @ChatGPT fits if your team already uses Slack or Teams
Using ChatGPT inside a collaboration app is distinct from connecting that app to an individual ChatGPT session. OpenAI documents @ChatGPT in supported Slack and Teams conversations, where an organization configures the assistant’s instructions and tools. It can use the conversation context and configured connections available to it, and its replies in shared conversations are visible to participants.
Do not assume @ChatGPT inherits the person who invoked it’s access to private files, apps, or channels. Its available context and actions depend on the configured connections, workspace settings, and account permissions. Connecting Slack or Teams to an individual ChatGPT session does not, by itself, install or enable @ChatGPT in the organization’s Slack or Teams environment.
Choose by workflow, then check permissions and rollout
- Choose a shared ChatGPT Project when the team needs common source files, instructions, and project-scoped AI conversations for work that can proceed asynchronously.
- Choose a ChatGPT workspace agent when the main need is a repeatable workflow that teammates can reuse, especially if it needs connected tools or scheduled runs. Review sharing roles and connector identity before publishing it.
- Choose Slack agents when people need to invoke or guide agents in channels and keep sessions visible alongside team conversation.
- Choose Teams Channel Agent when the useful context is in Teams channels and meetings, and the team needs documented follow-up such as tasks, reminders, or email.
- Keep more than one surface if the workflows genuinely differ. A ChatGPT Project can organize shared AI work while Slack or Teams remains the team’s communication hub; @ChatGPT can also be configured in supported Slack or Teams environments.
Before committing, verify current plan eligibility, tenant rollout, administrator settings, connector permissions, and any required Copilot subscription with the relevant vendor. Availability and licensing can change, and the documented requirements are not identical across these products. Current comparable pricing was not established here, so a cost recommendation would require checking the vendors’ current plan terms directly.

There is no dated, independently published head-to-head statistic in the sources reviewed that compares human-agent collaboration across ChatGPT Projects, Slack, and Teams. The product descriptions support a workflow-based choice, but they do not establish that one platform produces better outcomes overall. OpenAI’s September 25, 2025 announcement called shared Projects “an early step toward team collaboration in ChatGPT”; treat both that description and listed eligibility as statements tied to that announcement rather than guarantees of current availability.
