If a HomeKit camera is missing from what you call the “Home widget,” first check whether you mean the Cameras section in the Apple Home app or a separate iPhone Home Screen widget. Apple documents camera video in the Home app’s Home tab; the Apple guides cited here do not establish that a separate Home Screen widget displays camera streams. Find out whether the camera appears and streams in Home before changing settings or replacing hardware.
First, identify which “Home” view is missing the camera
Apple’s Home app overview describes a Cameras section on the Home tab. It does not document that section as a separate iPhone Home Screen widget. The camera setup guide likewise explains viewing a camera in the Home app, not in a standalone widget.
Open the Home app and check the Home tab. If you meant a separate widget on the iPhone Home Screen, treat that as a distinct issue: the cited Apple instructions do not confirm whether such a widget supports camera video or explain how it should behave.
Check whether the camera appears and streams in Home
Apple says the Home tab can show video from up to four cameras in its Cameras section. If you have more, swipe left through that section to see additional cameras. Tap the camera tile; Apple says live video should play automatically.

- 2K Clarity Day and Night: The G100 Wi-Fi Camera films in 2304×1296 (3MP) resolution with a 140°FOV and a wide-angle f/1.8 lens for superior image quality. It features two night vision modes: Spotlight Color Night Vision and IR Detection Mode. The spotlight provides illumination in dark, great for color recording outdoors at night. The G100 also includes 940 nm infrared lighting, ensuring covert illumination without alerting potential intruders. (Note: Both Spotlight and IR night vision modes must be manually enabled in the app and do not turn on automatically.)
- Indoor/Outdoor Ready IP65 Protection: With durable, weather-resistant IP65-rated housing, the G100 surveillance camera is both an indoor camera and outdoor security camera, offering reliable home surveillance for flexible indoor or outdoor mounting. Withstands rain, dust, and rugged environments.
- Local and Cloud AI Detection: The G100 surveillance cameras supports local motion and person detection, and the HomeGuardian Plan unlocks cloud-based recognition for pets, vehicles, packages, and faces, with AI event tagging. Integrated Events automatically can be triggered when paired with other Aqara devices (subscription required). It also supports Lens Obstruction Detection, custom audio files, and 2-way audio (Notes: Only in Aqara Home App).
- HomeKit Support & Wide Compatibility: The Aqara G100 Camera provides full support for HomeKit Secure Video (Note:Requires an active iCloud subscription and an Apple Home hub. HomeKit limits resolution to 1080p. When connected to both Apple and Aqara Home, the G100’s resolution in Aqara Home will also be limited to 1080p, but will return to 1296p if HomeKit is disconnected.) The G100 has some of the best third-party ecosystem support on the market, it can stream to Google, Alexa compatible smart displays, and even Home Assistant via the RTSP protocol, making it easier to interact with visitors or check in on loved ones.
- Flexible Storage Methods: Record 24/7 with a microSD (up to 512GB, not included) or NAS. Time-lapse mode compresses 24-hours of footage to 15-second clips (wired connection and microSD card required). Automatically store detected events with end-to-end encryption in the cloud with a HomeGuardian subscription, ensuring protection against data theft and guaranteeing your privacy at home.
- Camera appears and live video plays: The camera works in the Home app. The remaining question is which separate widget you are using and whether it supports the view you expect; the cited Apple pages do not settle that.
- Camera appears but video does not play: Troubleshoot the camera’s connection and any applicable service setup rather than focusing on the widget.
- Camera is absent from Home: Check that the model is compatible with Apple Home and that it is still added to the correct home. Apple’s general camera guide does not mean every compatible camera supports HomeKit Secure Video.
Review camera setup and settings
Apple’s camera guide describes adding a camera in Home and assigning it to a room. In the Home app, check the camera’s settings for its room assignment and notification options. If the camera is missing from the Home app itself, confirm it has not been removed from the home or associated with a different home before diagnosing a widget.
If you use HomeKit Secure Video, check its additional requirements
These checks apply to HomeKit Secure Video, not automatically to every camera view in Apple Home. Apple’s setup guidance calls for a home hub. It also says to use the same Apple Account on each device and turn on Home in iCloud on the viewing device: open Settings > [your name] > iCloud, then make sure Home is enabled.

Apple lists Apple TV 4K and HomePod as home hub types in its setup guidance. A hub is relevant when setting up HomeKit Secure Video; its presence is not evidence that a separate iPhone widget will show a camera stream.

Apple’s Face Recognition troubleshooting guidance recommends checking that the hub is powered on and connected to home Wi-Fi, that the camera is on the same network as the Home app, and that the network is stable. That advice concerns Face Recognition, so applying it to a camera that will not appear or stream is a sensible diagnostic check—not a guaranteed fix for this particular symptom.

- Confirm the hub is powered on and connected to Wi-Fi, if your setup uses one.
- Check that the camera and the device running Home are on the same network.
- Check that the network connection is stable, then reopen the camera tile in Home.
Choose the next step based on what you find
- Home shows and streams the camera, but a separate widget does not: Identify the exact widget and check its supported behavior. The Apple sources cited here do not establish camera-stream support for a separate Home Screen widget.
- Home lists the camera, but it will not stream: Focus on network stability and, if you use HomeKit Secure Video, its account, iCloud, and home hub setup.
- Home does not list the camera: Verify camera compatibility and that it remains added to the correct home. Consider replacement only if you establish that the camera is unsupported or faulty; a missing widget view alone does not show that the camera needs replacing.
