Mega Crit confirms Steam Deck compatibility, and the game is available through Steam Early Access. The official information cited here does not confirm a Nintendo Switch version or give a Switch release date, so Switch is currently a wait-and-see option.
Can you play Slay the Spire 2 on Steam Deck?
Yes. Mega Crit’s developer-pinned Steam FAQ answers “Is StS2 Steam Deck compatible?” with “Yes!” The game is in Steam Early Access, which began on March 5, 2026, and its Steam release supports PC, macOS, and Linux. Steam’s store listing identifies the Early Access release; Mega Crit’s Steam FAQ confirms Deck compatibility.
This establishes compatibility, not a particular level of performance. The official sources do not provide a Steam Deck versus Switch benchmark, battery comparison, or model-specific recommendation, so there is no supported basis here for claiming how long the Deck lasts on a charge or how it compares with Switch hardware.
Is Slay the Spire 2 on Nintendo Switch?
A Nintendo Switch release is not confirmed in the official information cited here. Mega Crit’s FAQ says console and mobile versions likely will not arrive until after Early Access ends, but it does not name Switch or announce a date. That is a general statement of intent, not confirmation of a Switch port. Read Mega Crit’s FAQ for the developer’s wording.

Steam Deck vs. Switch: the practical choice

| Can you play Slay the Spire 2 now? | Yes. Mega Crit confirms Steam Deck compatibility; the game is available on Steam Early Access. | No confirmed Switch version in the official information cited here. |
| Release timing | Early Access launched March 5, 2026, according to Steam. | No Switch release date announced in the cited official information. |

Should you buy into Early Access or wait for a finished game?
Steam labels Slay the Spire 2 an Early Access game and cautions that Early Access games are not complete and may or may not change further. Mega Crit describes using this period for player feedback, balance work, quality-of-life improvements, technical stability, and experiments. The store listing says the developers expect to add and balance cards, events, environments, enemies, and other content. It also describes plans for the full version, including more content, a true ending, game modes, balance work, bug fixes, broader hardware compatibility, visual effects, and languages. These are development plans, not guarantees that every listed change will arrive on a particular schedule. Steam’s Early Access listing explains the current status and planned work.
- Play now on Deck if you are comfortable with an evolving, unfinished game and want access during development.
- Wait if you want a finished release, or if Switch is the platform you specifically want. The sources provide no confirmed Switch timing.
Mega Crit estimated in its May 2024 FAQ that Early Access might last “perhaps” one to two years, based on the previous game. That estimate predates the March 2026 launch and is not a guaranteed end date; it should not be treated as a current schedule.

- Operating System: SteamOS 3.0
What about solo play and co-op?
The Steam listing includes both single-player and online co-op. Its description says up to four players can play together. Mega Crit’s FAQ says co-op is Steam-friends-only and has no matchmaking. That means you should not assume public matchmaking, local co-op, cross-platform play, or any Steam Deck-specific multiplayer behavior from the available information. Steam’s feature listing and Mega Crit’s FAQ describe the confirmed details.
