What to include in your report

The official flows ask for a reason and a description; the reviewed instructions do not prescribe a mandatory evidence checklist. Identify the repository, comment, or account as precisely as possible, then state what you observed and why it appears malicious or compromised. Keep the description factual and include relevant context that helps explain the concern.

Reports themselves are Community Content under Hugging Face’s policy. The policy says abusive flagging, including flagging used as spam or harassment, is not tolerated. Content Policy

If you suspect an account is compromised

Preserve the relevant repository or account details for your report. As additional precautions, rotate affected access tokens and review recent account activity. Hugging Face recommended those steps in a security disclosure published July 16, 2026; they are precautions, not a guaranteed fix for every compromise. In that disclosure, the company said a malicious dataset had abused two code-execution paths in its data-processing pipeline, reported no evidence of tampering with public user-facing models, datasets, or Spaces, and said the software supply chain was verified clean. What happens after a report

Hugging Face says it reviews reports case by case to determine whether content violates its policy. When possible, it says repository reports will be handled collaboratively with the repository owner and concerned party. Potential responses include requesting changes, unranking content, applying a Not for All Audiences tag, disabling access, removing content, restricting interactions, or suspending or terminating an account. The policy does not promise a response time or a particular outcome. Content Policy

Appeal a moderation decision or use a special process

Appeal a removal, suspension, or termination

If Hugging Face disabled your content or suspended or terminated your account, send your complaint and supporting arguments or evidence to safety@huggingface.co. The policy says EU users who remain unsatisfied have the right under the Digital Services Act to approach a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body. Content Policy

File a copyright or IP complaint

Use the DMCA route rather than an ordinary content report: send a detailed, accurate notice to dmca@huggingface.co. Hugging Face describes a counter-notification route for uploaders. For a qualifying counter-notification, the claimant has 14 U.S. business days to take legal action to prevent restoration of the content; this is a DMCA process period, not a general reporting response-time promise. Report illegal content from Australia

Australian residents can report illegal content by emailing aus-online-safety@huggingface.co. Content Policy

Security features are not reporting channels

Hugging Face documents Hub security features including access tokens, resource groups, multi-factor authentication, commit signatures, malware scanning, pickle scanning, and secrets scanning. These measures provide security context, but they do not replace reporting suspicious content through the appropriate route. Hub security documentation
