If you see a harmful or misleading answer in Grok, use the feedback or reporting control on that response if one is available. On X, the documented direct reporting steps are specifically for illegal or restricted Grok content in Australia: select the response’s thumbs-down control and choose the closest reporting category. If the answer was also published as an X post, report that post separately.

Report an answer inside Grok

For Grok on X, X’s About Grok page describes thumbs-up and thumbs-down controls as voluntary feedback on a conversation. It does not say every thumbs-down is a formal policy report.

For illegal or restricted content in Australia

  1. Find the generated Grok response.
  2. Select its thumbs-down control.
  3. Choose the most applicable reporting category shown.

X documents this route for users in Australia who see or inadvertently generate illegal or restricted content on Grok on X, in its Australia Online Safety Information. The published guidance does not establish that the same menu or categories apply to ordinary inaccurate or misleading answers, in every region, or in every Grok app or interface.

For an ordinary factual error or misleading answer

Use the response controls and options actually shown in your version of Grok, and choose the closest accurate category if a reporting menu is available. X warns that Grok can confidently provide factually incorrect information, missummarize, or miss context, and advises users to verify important information independently. Its general Grok guidance does not specify a universal policy-report category for an ordinary factual error. Avoid labeling a mistake as a rule violation unless the content fits the category offered.

Report the answer if it is also a public X post

A Grok response and an X post are separate things to report. If the answer was published as a post and you believe that post violates X’s rules, report the post itself so the specific public content is flagged for review.

  1. Open the post.
  2. Select the post’s options icon.
  3. Choose “Report post” and follow the prompts.

X describes this process in its post-reporting guidance. A report does not automatically suspend the account, and reporting is not a guarantee that the post will be removed.

Know what to expect after submitting a report

X says it acknowledges properly submitted reports within 24 hours. Reports are typically resolved within a few days, though some can take up to 30 days depending on factors such as whether X needs more information from the reporting user or an appeal is involved. These are X’s stated operational timeframes, not guaranteed deadlines. Depending on the report type, X may or may not send an outcome. See Report violations for the reporting and review guidance.

Consider privacy before sending feedback

X says thumbs-down feedback and related conversation data may be used by X and xAI to train and fine-tune Grok, even if you have opted out of model training. Do not include personal, sensitive, or confidential information in Grok conversations. X’s Grok settings also let users control personalization and delete conversation history; its guidance says deleted conversations are removed from its systems within 30 days, unless retention is needed for security or legal reasons. See About Grok for those privacy details.
