1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsOpen the person’s profile or conversation in the dating app, choose Report, and select the reason that best matches what happened. If the app offers Block and Report and you also want to stop contact, use that option. Save relevant screenshots first when safe and practical: reporting can remove a profile or conversation from view, depending on the app.
The steps differ on Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge. If your app’s controls have changed, use its current in-app help or support.
Before reporting, preserve useful evidence
Reporting works best when you give the service specific, accurate details that help identify the account and explain the conduct. Before blocking or reporting, save relevant evidence if you can do so safely—especially if you may lose access to the conversation afterward.
- Profile name, age, bio, and photos
- The reason for your report and a concise account of what happened
- Relevant messages or conversation screenshots
- Any known location, phone number, email address, or social profile link that could help identify the account
Do not embellish or report someone simply because they stopped replying. Tinder’s guidance distinguishes suspicious or rule-breaking behavior from ordinary non-response.

How to report on Tinder
Before you match
- Open the person’s profile.
- Tap the three-dot menu or the report button at the bottom of the profile.
- Choose Report, select the closest reason, and follow the prompts.
From a match or chat
- Open the conversation.
- Tap the three-dot menu.
- Choose Report and follow the prompts.
Tinder says reports are confidential, though the person reported may receive a generic notice that their account is under review. If either person has already unmatched, Tinder says you can still report the account online. Provide the exact profile name, age, bio, and photos; location, phone number, email, or a social profile link may also help. Tinder lists a “Block a Profile” resource in its Safety & Reporting help category; consult the current instructions there or in the app for blocking steps.
How to report on Bumble
In the app
- Open the person’s profile and scroll to the bottom.
- Choose Report or Block and Report.
- Follow the prompts and provide accurate details.
On Bumble web
Use the flag icon labeled Block and Report beneath the profile photo, then follow the prompts.
Bumble says reports are private and anonymous. You can check report progress in the Help Hub. If you already unmatched and can no longer access the profile or conversation, contact Bumble Support with the person’s name, your reason for reporting, and any available conversation screenshots.
How to report on Hinge
- Open the person’s profile, or open the conversation from your matches.
- Tap the three-dot menu.
- Choose Report and select a reason.
Hinge describes reports as confidential and permanent. Reporting removes the profile from your view. If you report from Matches, you also disappear from the other member’s view, and that person cannot retrieve the conversation or match. Save relevant evidence before reporting if you may need it later.

What happens when you block and report?
Reporting asks the service to review conduct; blocking is intended to stop or limit further contact. Some menus combine the actions, while others offer them separately. Their effects—and whether you can report after unmatching—vary by service.
| App | Where to report | Block option and effect described by the service | After an unmatch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tinder | Profile menu or report button; chat menu | A “Block a Profile” resource is listed in Tinder’s help category; consult current app or help instructions for the steps. | Tinder says you can report online after either person has unmatched. |
| Bumble | Profile in the app; flag icon beneath the profile photo on web | The app offers Block and Report; the web flag is labeled Block and Report. | If the profile or conversation is inaccessible, contact Support with identifying details and available screenshots. |
| Hinge | Profile or match menu | Reporting is permanent and removes the profile from view; a report from Matches also removes you from the other member’s view and prevents them retrieving the conversation or match. | Not stated in Hinge’s cited reporting instructions. |
These instructions reflect the cited platform help pages and can change with app versions or regions. If a menu is missing or behaves differently, check the app’s current support guidance.

If you suspect a romance scam
Stop communicating and report the profile to the dating service. The Federal Trade Commission also advises talking to someone you trust, searching the person’s claimed job together with the word “scammer,” and considering a reverse-image search of the profile picture. You can report the suspected scam to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. The FTC’s advice is direct: “Never send money or gifts to a sweetheart you haven’t met in person.”
If you already sent money, contact the relevant bank or payment company right away and ask whether the transaction can be stopped or refunded. Act promptly whether payment was by gift card, wire transfer, credit or debit card, or cryptocurrency.

How common are romance-scam contacts on dating apps?
In 2023, the FTC reported that among people who said they lost money to a romance scam in the prior year, 40% said contact began on social media and 19% said it began on a website or app. Those figures describe people who reported losing money; they do not estimate what share of all dating profiles are fake.
