Use Blizzard’s WoW Token exchange: spend gold to buy a Token and redeem it for 30 days of game time, or buy a Token with money in the in-game Shop and sell it for gold through the exchange. Avoid third-party gold sellers; Blizzard’s account agreement prohibits commercial sales of in-game currency outside its platform.
Choose the WoW Token route that matches what you have
| Your goal | Official route | What you receive |
|---|---|---|
| Get game time using gold | Buy a WoW Token in the Auction House’s Token exchange, then redeem it. | 30 days of game time. |
| Get gold using money | Buy a WoW Token in the in-game Shop, then list it through the dedicated Token exchange. | The gold amount quoted before listing. |
| Get Battle.net Balance | Buy a Token with gold and choose Balance redemption, if supported for your region and account. | The amount available for the currency and region associated with your registered Battle.net account. |
Blizzard’s official WoW Token information explains the available exchange and redemption options. Which options and prices appear can vary by region and account, so check the live interface in your game.
How to buy WoW game time with gold
- Open the Auction House and select the WoW Token section.
- Check the current regional price shown in the Token exchange. There is no bidding for a Token.
- Buy the Token with gold. It is delivered through the in-game mailbox.
- Redeem the Token for game time, or choose Battle.net Balance if that option is available for your account.
A Token redeemed for game time provides 30 days. A Token bought with gold becomes soulbound, so it cannot be resold or transferred to another player. Blizzard documents Balance redemption only for supported regions; do not assume a particular currency or amount will be offered to every account.
How to buy WoW gold with money
- Open the World of Warcraft in-game Shop and purchase a WoW Token.
- Open the Auction House’s dedicated WoW Token exchange and list the Token there.
- Review the gold amount quoted before confirming the listing. Blizzard says the amount shown is locked for your sale once listed.
The Token’s gold value changes dynamically with supply and demand, so an old price from a guide or forum may no longer apply. Check the quote in the game before listing. Blizzard says Tokens cannot be traded or sold by any other method; ordinary player-to-player trading is not a substitute for the Token exchange.

Why off-platform gold sellers are risky
Blizzard’s account agreement prohibits collecting in-game currency, items, or resources for commercial sale outside its platform. The agreement says policy violations can lead to sanctions, including suspension or cancellation of an account. That is Blizzard’s contractual policy, not a guarantee that every buyer will receive a particular penalty. See the Blizzard End User License Agreement.
Blizzard has also historically associated third-party gold operations with compromised accounts, fake product codes, hacking tools, and disruptive advertising. Those are risks Blizzard described in its WoW Token announcement, not a current measured estimate of how often each problem occurs. The official Token exchange is the route Blizzard provides for converting between gold and game time or, where supported, Balance.
