Most clip-on Kindle page-turners do not connect to the e-reader by Bluetooth. They use a remote to trigger a sensor that physically touches the screen. Compatibility depends on the exact Kindle model and the accessory’s design. There are also built-in alternatives on certain Kindle models, plus a newer Bluetooth remote reported to support select recent Kindles.
How a clip-on Kindle page-turner works
A common clip-on page-turner has two parts: a sensor that rests against the Kindle’s touchscreen and a separate handheld remote. Pressing the remote sends a radio-frequency (RF) signal to the sensor, which then activates the screen. The remote pairs with the sensor, not with the Kindle over Bluetooth. The sensor needs to make reliable contact with the screen, so its position and clearance from the bezel or case matter. The accessory manual for the specific unit should explain where to place the sensor and how to pair its remote.
Some designs let you position the sensor to turn forward or backward, but controls and setup vary by product. Check the manual for direction, pairing, wake behavior, and any inactivity timeout rather than assuming every remote works the same way.
Will a page-turner work with your Kindle?
There is no universal compatibility list for clip-on page-turners. One accessory manual warns that certain older Kindles, including Kindle 7 and 8, are unsupported; that limitation applies to that product, not necessarily to every sensor-based accessory. Sellers may also use generation labels inconsistently.
#1 Best Overall
- Light and compact - With adjustable brightness, high contrast ratio, and fast page turns.
- Effortless reading in any light - Read comfortably with a 6“ glare-free display, adjustable front light—now 25% brighter at max setting—and dark mode.
- Escape into your books - Tune out messages, emails, and social media with a distraction-free reading experience.
- Read for a while - Get up to 6 weeks of battery life on a single charge.
- Take your library with you – 16 GB storage holds thousands of books.
- On the Kindle, open Settings > Device Options > Device Info to identify the model and generation.
- Compare that exact device with the page-turner manufacturer’s supported-model list and manual.
- Check that the sensor can sit against the screen without the case or bezel blocking its placement.
- Confirm whether the remote supports the direction and controls you need.
If the manufacturer does not list your exact Kindle, compatibility is not established. A broad listing that says “Kindle compatible” may not distinguish generations or sensor designs.
Does Kindle Bluetooth support page-turner remotes?
Bluetooth availability does not automatically mean a Kindle accepts a Bluetooth page-turning remote. Amazon’s Bluetooth help page describes Bluetooth use for VoiceView commands and audiobook playback, and says Bluetooth keyboards and mice are unsupported. Amazon states that Bluetooth connectivity is supported on Kindle devices released in or after 2016; that is not the same as support for every Bluetooth accessory.

In reporting published October 1, 2026, The Verge described Kindle Click as a Bluetooth page-turning remote for Kindle e-readers released from 2024 onward. Because Amazon’s general pairing instructions do not document Kindle Click or confirm model-level compatibility, treat that reported range as provisional. Check Amazon’s product page or support information for your exact Kindle before relying on it.
Built-in ways to turn Kindle pages
Double-tap on two 2024 Signature Edition models
Amazon documents an accelerometer-based double-tap page-advance feature for the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (12th Generation) and Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, both 2024 releases. While reading, double-tap the side or back of the device to advance a page. The setting is under All Settings > Device Options. Amazon says its official cases have been tested, while some third-party cases may interfere. This feature should not be assumed to work on other Paperwhite or Colorsoft models.

Physical buttons on Kindle Oasis
Amazon’s Kindle device-identification guide lists front page-turn buttons on Oasis models released in 2016 (8th generation), 2017 (9th generation), and 2019 (10th generation). Owners of those models can use the built-in buttons for ordinary page turning.
Fire tablets and Kindle apps are different
Amazon says compatible Bluetooth switches can navigate Fire tablets and turn pages in Kindle books. Its accessibility overview also says volume controls can turn pages in the Kindle Android app. These are tablet and app options, not evidence that a Bluetooth remote works with a Kindle e-reader.

Choose by mechanism, not just by the word “Kindle”
| Option | How it turns pages | Compatibility to check |
|---|---|---|
| Clip-on remote | RF remote triggers a screen-contact sensor | Exact model support, sensor placement, and case clearance; varies by accessory manual |
| Kindle Click | Bluetooth remote, according to October 1, 2026 reporting | Reported for Kindle e-readers released from 2024 onward; confirm with Amazon for your model |
| Double-tap | Accelerometer detects a double-tap to advance | Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (12th Generation) and Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition (2024 releases) |
| Oasis buttons | Physical front page-turn buttons | Oasis 8th, 9th, and 10th generations (2016, 2017, and 2019 releases) |
For exact generation identification, use Amazon’s device-identification guide alongside the Device Info screen. For a clip-on unit, the manual’s placement diagram and supported-model list are more useful than Bluetooth specifications: the common sensor-and-RF design does not pair with the Kindle at all.
