If an idle clicker keeps pulling your attention from work, match the fix to the distraction: silence its alerts, remove the game from view, or block access during a defined work period. Focus features do not all do the same thing—Windows and Apple Focus mainly manage interruptions, while Android Focus mode can pause selected apps.
Identify what is pulling your attention
There are three common triggers to address: a sound, notification, badge, or flashing taskbar icon; the game window sitting in view; or the habit of opening the game to check its progress. A setting that silences alerts will not necessarily stop you from launching the game, so begin with the cue that actually interrupts you.
- Alerts: Mute the game’s notifications or use your device’s focus controls.
- Visible game: Close or minimize the game and move it off your work screen.
- Checking habit: Use an app restriction that blocks access for a chosen interval, if your device supports one.
Start with the least disruptive fix
Close or minimize the game, then mute its notifications. This keeps the game from competing for your attention visually and through alerts without assuming that a notification setting prevents access. If you need to leave it running, try minimizing it and silencing its app notifications first.
Next, set a bounded work interval using the controls available on your device. If you need calls or work alerts, allow the relevant people or apps rather than silencing everything. When the interval ends, check messages or game progress during a planned break instead of keeping the game in view throughout your work.

Menus and feature availability can vary by device and operating-system version. Consult the platform instructions for Windows Focus sessions, Android Digital Wellbeing Focus mode, iPhone Focus, and Mac Focus if a label differs on your device.
When silencing alerts is not enough
If you still open the game out of habit, you need an access restriction rather than another notification setting. Android Focus mode can pause chosen apps. On Windows, iPhone, and Mac, the cited built-in Focus guidance does not establish that Focus blocks launching the game. You may need a separate app or website blocker that supports the device where the clicker runs.

Before relying on a blocker, check that it covers the game or site you use, works on your specific device, offers scheduling if you need it, and makes clear how breaks or overrides work. A blocker that is easy to bypass may not address habitual checking; one that suppresses alerts but permits launching is not an access block. Third-party product claims should be checked for current platform support, plan requirements, and privacy terms.

Focus settings can be more useful when configured around the work you are doing. Allow important contacts, calls, or work apps where the platform provides exceptions. On iPhone, review time-sensitive notification and emergency-contact behavior when setting exceptions so the setup fits your needs. If manually starting a session is easy to forget, use a schedule where available.
