For eccentric action and a clear series starting point, begin with No More Heroes. If you would rather follow an unusual, story-led adventure, start with The Silver Case. Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered is another action-adventure option, with an official listing for current platform families. There is no evidence-based universal ranking here: the best first game depends on the kind of experience you want.
What Grasshopper Manufacture game should I play first?
Choose by genre, not by a supposed definitive ranking. Grasshopper Manufacture’s official descriptions make No More Heroes the clearest route into its assassin-action premise and The Silver Case a distinct narrative-first alternative. For an action-adventure with horror imagery, consider Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered.

| No More Heroes | Eccentric action; a series starting point | Grasshopper calls it the series’ genesis. Travis Touchdown climbs assassin rankings; Marvelous describes combat, side jobs, training, and exploration. Grasshopper’s game page; Marvelous game page. | The Grasshopper page lists the original Wii release. Check which edition and platform are available in your region. |
| The Silver Case | Story-led adventure and unconventional presentation | Grasshopper identifies it as the studio’s first title and describes two perspectives, Transmitter and Placebo, which can be played separately or alternated. Grasshopper’s game page. | Choose it for narrative and presentation, not as a sample of the studio’s action games. |
| The Silver Case 2425 | A combined narrative-adventure option | Grasshopper’s catalog says it includes The Silver Case and The 25th Ward: The Silver Case. Grasshopper’s catalog page. | Listed platforms and dates are tied to particular territories and versions; verify the edition you can buy. |
| Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered | Action-adventure and horror imagery | Grasshopper describes the original as a 2011 action-adventure and lists PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch, and Steam for the remaster. The listed publisher is NetEase Entertainment Interactive. Grasshopper’s game page. | Confirm platform, region, and physical or digital edition. A platform listing alone does not establish how a particular version performs. |
| No More Heroes III | A later Travis Touchdown action game | Marvelous describes Travis’s return and the Galactic Superhero Rankings. Marvelous game page. | It is the third numbered entry, so it is a less obvious first stop than the original No More Heroes. |
Which Grasshopper game is best for beginners?
For a newcomer who wants action, start with No More Heroes: Grasshopper itself calls it “the genesis of the No More Heroes series.” That supports its role as a series entry point, not a claim that it is objectively the studio’s best game. Marvelous’s description gives a practical sense of its range: combat sits alongside side jobs, training, and exploration.
If you would rather begin with story, choose The Silver Case. Grasshopper describes it as “the first title by Grasshopper Manufacture” and highlights the Transmitter and Placebo perspectives. The option to play those perspectives separately or alternate between them gives a better indication of its appeal than an action-game comparison would.

#1 Best Overall
- Earn money to enter ranked battles! To enter into each subsequent ranked battle, you’ll need to pay a pretty steep fee. Travis must take on various missions around town to make the money he needs to fight
- Use your skills to dominate opponents! Enjoy even more hardcore slash-‘em-up action than ever before as you use the Joy-Con’s intuitive controls to wield Travis Touchdown’s trusty Beam Katana along with a slew of pro wrestling techniques!
- Also, featured for the first time in the series, Travis can now use his Death Glove to activate a variety of skills, allowing for more strategic battles
How should I choose between the narrative games?
The Silver Case is the direct choice if you want that individual story-led title. The Silver Case 2425 is the catalog-listed option when you want both The Silver Case and The 25th Ward: The Silver Case together. Check the platform and regional edition before buying; catalog dates and platform listings are version-specific.
What should I know about Hella Remastered?
Grasshopper calls Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered a remastered edition of its 2011 “Hell-traversing ‘road movie action-adventure game’.” Its official catalog lists PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam, and names NetEase Entertainment Interactive as publisher. These details make it a plausible current-platform entry point if action-adventure suits you, but they do not establish comparative quality or performance across versions.

Why check the credits and edition?
“Grasshopper game” does not mean that Grasshopper developed or published every version in the same way. The official catalog, for example, lists NetEase Entertainment Interactive as publisher for Hella Remastered, while Marvelous presents the original No More Heroes separately. Credit roles can also differ for later versions of associated games: PC Gamer’s February 11, 2026 report says the Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP remaster was made without Grasshopper’s involvement. Check the specific game’s credits and product listing rather than assuming the studio handled every release or remaster.

This is a fit-based starting guide drawn from official game descriptions and catalog details. The sources establish premises, some listed platforms, and certain publisher credits; they do not establish a universal newcomer ranking or settle relative quality, length, difficulty, performance, or detailed series-continuity advice. Pick the first game by whether you want action or narrative adventure, then verify the specific platform and edition offered where you live.
