First identify what “lag” means in your case: low FPS and stuttering are rendering problems on your PC, while high ping or delayed actions are network problems. Lowering graphics settings may help the former, but it will not fix a server or routing issue. Work through the checks below, changing one setting at a time and noting where and when the problem occurs.
Check whether your PC meets AION 2’s requirements
Compare your processor, memory, graphics card, Windows version, DirectX support, and available storage with the official requirements for the client and region you use. These specifications are compatibility baselines, not a promise of a particular frame rate.

| Recommended — global Steam listing, accessed 2026 Source | 64-bit Windows 10/11 | AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-11700 | 16 GB | NVIDIA RTX 2070, 8 GB | DirectX 12; broadband internet; 100 GB available storage | Low for compatibility |

The FHD preset guidance is not identical: Steam’s global listing says Low for its recommended tier, while NCSoft’s Korean page says Normal. Follow the page for your client rather than treating those notes as interchangeable. Steam global requirements · NCSoft Korean requirements
If your PC falls below a tier, identify the component that is short before considering an upgrade. Check the exact installed CPU and GPU, RAM capacity, Windows edition, and free drive space; a general recommendation to replace the whole PC does not follow from one below-spec component.

Tell rendering problems apart from network delay
- Low FPS: The image looks consistently less smooth than you expect. This is a rendering-performance symptom.
- Stuttering: The game briefly hitches or pauses, even if it is otherwise running smoothly. Note whether it occurs everywhere or mainly in particular areas.
- Network delay: Actions or other players appear delayed despite reasonably smooth visuals. Graphics adjustments do not address server or routing problems.
Record when the issue began, whether it followed a patch or driver change, and the conditions in which it occurs. This helps you compare changes without assuming that a particular location, update, or setting is the cause.
Check the official installation, drivers, and storage
Use the game client and support links intended for your region. NCSoft’s Korean page instructs PC users to install PURPLE, select AION 2 in the Store, and choose the game-install option in the AION 2 lobby. It also lists references for DirectX 12, Visual Studio Redistributable 2015–2022, NVIDIA GeForce drivers, AMD Radeon drivers, and .NET Framework 4.6.2 or higher. See NCSoft’s download and PC requirements page. For other clients, use the relevant official client and the appropriate graphics-card vendor’s driver source rather than unofficial executables or configuration downloads.

NCSoft recommends an SSD and lists 100 GB of available storage. Check whether the game is on an SSD and whether the installation drive has that space available before buying anything. An SSD is installation guidance, not evidence that it will cure every hitch, low-FPS problem, or network issue. NCSoft PC download and requirements

The same guide suggests leaving VSync off initially, using a 60 Hz refresh rate with 90 Hz as an option, and keeping the upscaler disabled at first. It suggests enabling an upscaler later if necessary and describes VSync as a possible fallback for severe lag. Treat these as experiments, not universal settings: VSync can affect tearing and input feel depending on the setup. Revert any change that makes the experience worse. Playnews settings advice

Decide what to do if the problem continues
- Your PC is below an official minimum: Note which requirement is unmet and consider that specific component and compatibility before an upgrade.
- Your PC meets the published requirements, but visuals still hitch or run slowly: Keep a record of the hardware, client region, resolution, settings, drive type, and driver version, along with the scene and timing. The official pages do not establish a universal fix for persistent performance symptoms.
- The game looks smooth but actions are delayed: Focus on the network or server-side symptom rather than expecting graphics changes to solve it.
