Use the Election Commission of India’s official electoral search portal. Choose a search by EPIC number, personal details or mobile number, enter the information requested and review the result for your electoral and polling details. If the entry is missing or incorrect, use the separate registration or correction service rather than treating a search as an application.
Search the electoral roll on the ECI portal
- Open the ECI electoral search. The ECI Citizen Service Portal labels the general service “Search Your Name in Voter List.”
- Choose one of the methods offered: “Search by EPIC,” “Search by Details” or “Search by Mobile.” For an EPIC search, select Karnataka when asked to choose a state. The portal may show different fields depending on the selected method.
- Enter the requested information and complete any verification shown on the page.
- Check the returned record and polling information. The ECI manual describes the service as a way to search an elector’s name and particulars and locate polling-station information; use the live portal if its steps differ from that manual.
Which search method should you use?
| Method | Use it when | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Search by EPIC | You have your voter ID’s EPIC number. | The EPIC number and the state if requested; select Karnataka. |
| Search by Details | You want to search using personal information rather than an EPIC number. | The details requested by the portal. |
| Search by Mobile | You want to try the mobile-number lookup offered by the portal. | The mobile number and any additional information or verification requested. |
The ECI’s electoral-search interface offers these three modes. Required fields can vary with the method and live page, so follow the prompts rather than assuming every search needs the same information.
If the search does not find your name
- Check that you selected Karnataka where the portal asks for a state, and review the information you entered.
- Try another available search method. If using personal details, retry plausible spelling variations of your name.
- If you are checking the separately labeled last-SIR roll, its page specifically advises adding district, Assembly Constituency and part details where available and trying alternative spellings. That advice is for the last-SIR search; it should not be mistaken for a guaranteed fix to every general-roll search.
An unsuccessful search is not, by itself, proof that you are ineligible or that an application has been rejected. Use the ECI’s support routes if you cannot locate or interpret the record.
Use the right service to register or correct an entry
Searching verifies a record; it does not create or change one. ECI guidance points to Form 6 for new registration and Form 8 for correction or shifting an existing entry after a move. Submit the relevant application to the concerned Electoral Registration Officer, online or offline, as applicable.

The ECI Citizen Service Portal also provides application tracking and a request to book a call with a Booth Level Officer (BLO). It lists 1950 as a toll-free contact number and offers complaint and suggestion services. The portal does not establish a particular resolution time or outcome for a call.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do not confuse the general search with the 2026 SIR search
The ECI portal displays a “Special Intensive Revision (SIR) – 2026” section and a separate option to search a name in the last SIR roll. For a current electoral-roll check, start with the general search. Use the SIR option when you specifically need to check that revision’s roll; the cited portal information does not establish that it replaces the general lookup or define the full geographic scope of that service.
Rank #2
The SIR page says its historic roll data is published as received from the concerned State Chief Electoral Officer. A result in that separate historic-roll search should therefore be understood in that context.
