The right method depends on whether you’re displaying the item or putting it away—and paper-conservation advice should not be treated as certification for figures or electronic cards.
Start by identifying the collectible’s material
Fire Emblem collections can include plastic figures, electronic amiibo cards, and paper items such as prints, manuals, and books. Their risks differ. Nintendo’s amiibo care instructions apply to amiibo figures and cards; the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) offers general guidance for paper objects, not Fire Emblem-specific product testing.
- Amiibo figures: protect against heat, prolonged direct sunlight, damp or highly humid conditions, extended contact with resin products, and pressure that could deform the figure.
- Amiibo cards: keep them from bending and scratching, and store them supported.
- Paper collectibles: use protective enclosures and reduce exposure to light, heat, and unsuitable humidity.
How to display and store amiibo figures
Nintendo’s amiibo Instruction Booklet warns that heat and long periods of direct sunlight may deform a figure or affect its function. It also advises against high humidity, getting the figure wet, extended contact with resin products, and leaving it under pressure in a position that could deform it.
For display
- Choose a spot away from direct sun for long periods and from heaters, stoves, or other heat sources.
- Keep the figure in a dry location rather than somewhere damp or highly humid.
- Make sure the figure stands without being squeezed, pinned, or forced into a position that puts pressure on it.
- Avoid prolonged contact with resin products. Nintendo does not specify a universally safe display-case or riser material, so do not assume every case, stand, or plastic is suitable.
For cleaning
Nintendo recommends carefully wiping dirt with a soft, dry cloth. The booklet does not establish that other cleaning products or methods are suitable for every figure, so avoid assuming that a solvent, wet wipe, or polish is safe.

How to store amiibo cards without bending them
Nintendo’s amiibo cards: Health and Safety Information says the cards contain electronic parts and warns users to avoid bending or scratching them.
- Store cards supported and flat enough that they are not bowed or bent.
- Handle them by the edges when practical to reduce contact with the printed surface.
- If using a sleeve, choose one that fits without forcing the card inside or pressing on it.
Polypropylene trading-card sleeves are one possible accessory category: CCI identifies polypropylene as a stable plastic used for paper-object enclosures. That is general conservation guidance, not Nintendo certification of sleeves for amiibo cards, and it does not establish that every sleeve product is appropriate.

How to protect prints, manuals, books, and other paper items
CCI recommends protective enclosures or folders made from buffered paper or board, or stable plastics such as PET or polypropylene. Archival boxes can add protection when items are stored rather than displayed. This advice is for paper objects; it does not certify those enclosure materials for amiibo electronics or figure plastics.
CCI’s general paper guidance says temperature, relative humidity, and light affect deterioration. It recommends relative humidity below 50% for general paper collections and reducing both the intensity of illumination and the length of time items are exposed. These are general recommendations, not results from tests on Fire Emblem collectibles.

For framed paper art
CCI recommends UV-filtering glazing when framing works of art on paper. For sensitive paper materials—including watercolours, coloured prints, and works on poor-quality paper—it gives 50 lux as a recommended illumination level. Do not apply that figure as a universal limit for every collectible material.
Choose a display or storage method by the risks it controls

Before choosing, ask whether the enclosure suits the item’s material, whether it limits dust or handling, whether it could press or bend the item, and whether the display location exposes it to heat, damp, or prolonged light. For paper art, also consider UV-filtering glazing and reduced display time.

Example: identifying an Alm amiibo
Nintendo lists the Alm amiibo as released on May 19, 2017, and says it was available exclusively in the Fire Emblem series two-pack. Nintendo also notes that amiibo compatibility and functionality vary by game. See the official Alm amiibo page for those product details.
