If Visible activation stalls, first identify whether the problem is device eligibility, eSIM installation, missing service after installation, or a number transfer still in progress. These require different fixes. Check compatibility and setup conditions, follow the correct iPhone or Android activation flow, then use Visible’s recovery steps or Port Tracker as appropriate.
Identify which part of Visible setup is failing
An eSIM profile, working cellular service, and a transferred phone number are related but separate stages. Use the symptom to choose the right path:
| What you see | What it usually means | Where to start |
|---|---|---|
| Visible says the device is not eligible, or setup will not proceed | The phone may lack eSIM support, fail Visible network compatibility, or be locked to another carrier. | Check eSIM capability, Visible compatibility, and unlock status. |
| The eSIM does not install or activation does not complete | The cellular plan setup has not finished. | Retry the operating-system activation flow, then use the QR or manual-code fallback. |
| The eSIM appears installed, but calls, texts, or data do not work | This is a service-after-activation issue, not necessarily an installation failure. | Test with Wi-Fi off and follow Visible’s service troubleshooting sequence. |
| Service works, but the existing number has not moved | The number transfer is still pending or needs corrected information. | Check Visible’s Port Tracker rather than reinstalling the eSIM. |
Check eSIM support, network compatibility, and setup conditions
eSIM capability alone does not confirm that a phone will work on Visible. For a bring-your-own device, confirm that it is also unlocked and compatible with Visible’s network using the Visible Compatibility Checker. Visible recommends current phone software and the latest Visible app, sufficient battery charge, Wi-Fi during setup, and coverage where you are activating.
Find the eSIM setting on your phone
- iPhone: Open Settings > Cellular and check for an eSIM option. Then confirm the model with Visible’s compatibility checker.
- Samsung: Open Settings > Connections > SIM card manager and look for “Add eSIM.”
- Google Pixel: Open Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced > eSIM Cards and look for “Download a SIM instead?”
These settings indicate whether an eSIM option is present; they do not replace Visible’s network-compatibility check. See Visible’s iPhone activation guide and Android activation guide for its device-specific requirements.

Activate through the Visible app
Use the platform-specific prompts below. Visible says activation can take up to 15 minutes; this is its published wait guidance, not a measured average or a guarantee. Its initial activation instructions say a restart is not needed.
iPhone
- Connect to Wi-Fi, open the Visible app, and sign in to your account.
- Continue through the confirmation and activation screens until prompted to add a cellular plan.
- Choose Add Cellular Plan and follow the iPhone prompts.
- Select the Visible eSIM for cellular data when asked which line to use.
- Return to the Visible app and confirm that mobile data is enabled for the Visible line.
- Allow up to 15 minutes for activation to complete.
Android
- Connect to Wi-Fi, open the Visible app, and sign in.
- Continue through the activation flow and follow the Android setup prompts.
- In the phone’s SIM or mobile-network settings, confirm the Visible eSIM is enabled for mobile data.
- Allow up to 15 minutes for activation to complete.
Use Visible’s QR-code or manual-entry fallback
If the usual in-app installation fails and Visible offers QR activation, complete the cellular setup even if an error appears at the end of scanning. Visible’s iPhone guide says the QR code is only visible during activation, so arrange access to it before leaving that flow.
- Sign in to your Visible account on another screen, such as a computer, tablet, or second phone, to display the QR code.
- On the phone being activated, open the eSIM addition flow in Settings and scan the displayed code.
- Complete the operating-system cellular setup prompts.
- Return to the Visible app and tap Check Status.
iPhone with iOS 17 or later: select a saved QR image
Visible’s iPhone guide supports using a saved QR image on iOS 17 or later. Save the QR image, then on the target iPhone go to Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Use QR Code > Open Photos and select the image. Finish the setup, return to the Visible app, and check status.
Android without a second screen: enter the activation code
When there is no second device to display the QR code, choose Enter Details Manually in the Android eSIM setup flow. Copy the Activation Code from the Visible app, paste it into the matching Settings field, complete the prompts, then return to Visible and tap Check Status.

Troubleshoot an installed eSIM with no service
Turn Wi-Fi off before testing so you can tell whether cellular service is working. Check voice calls, text messages, and mobile data separately. Visible’s prescribed sequence for post-activation or post-transfer trouble is:
- Wait up to 15 minutes after activation, then restart the phone and test again.
- Turn Airplane mode on for at least 30 seconds, then turn it off.
- In the Visible app, go to Account > Your devices > Switching phones is SIMple > Switch Now > My current phone, and re-download the eSIM.
- Check whether a physical SIM is inserted or unused eSIM profiles remain. Restart the phone and test calls, texts, and data again with Wi-Fi off.
- Confirm you have coverage where you are, install available operating-system and Visible app updates, and check the Visible coverage map.
Visible says cell signal boosters and network extenders are currently not compatible with its service. Its troubleshooting instructions do not call for buying a signal accessory or diagnostic tool.

If the eSIM is installed and service works but your existing number has not transferred, check the port status rather than repeating eSIM setup. Visible’s number port-in guide describes routes to request a transfer before or after activation and directs customers to Port Tracker for status and corrections.
Port started before activation
Follow the port-in flow associated with your activation and use Port Tracker if the transfer is pending or needs attention. Visible may ask for details such as the old carrier account number, transfer PIN, ZIP code, phone number, and account holder’s first and last name. Use the values associated with the prior carrier account, and correct or resubmit information through the prompts if Visible identifies an error.

- Universal Carrier Compatibility: This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.)
- Carrier Verification Required: Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility
- Simple Activation Process: When you receive the phone, insert a SIM card from a compatible carrier. Then, turn it on, connect to Wi-Fi, and follow the on screen prompts to activate service
- Package Contents: The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charger and charging cable
- Battery Health Guarantee: Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%
Port started after activation
Visible directs customers to start the transfer from the app’s Home section once talk, text, and data are working. Watch for Visible’s notification or email, or check Port Tracker for completion.
Keep service with the previous carrier active while you still need the number to receive service there. Visible says the previous-carrier account terminates when the port finishes; do not cancel it in advance.
When to contact Visible
If the eligibility checks, activation flow, QR or manual fallback, and service steps do not resolve the issue, contact Visible Care through the app or online chat. For a number-transfer error, use Port Tracker’s correction or resubmission prompts; the prior carrier may also be able to confirm the account number, PIN, or other transfer details tied to its account.
