Build for a squad role, not a supposed “best” class: Focus Entertainment’s Patch 15 materials do not name a strongest Chaos Siege class or publish Chaos Siege loadouts or class comparisons. Start by checking which classes and weapons you can select in-game, then choose perks and gear that support your job. Tactical players should also revisit older builds, because Patch 15 changed the class’s perks and weapon trade-offs.
What Chaos Siege asks your build to do
Patch 15 added Chaos PvE Siege to Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Focus Entertainment’s October 1, 2026 announcement describes two new Siege sectors on Avarax and fights involving Tyranids, Cadians, and Loyalist Space Marines. The detailed Patch 15 notes describe the Hive map: Heretic Astartes defend key locations and attempt rituals, with Cultists and a Helbrute supporting them against Hive Fleet forces and Loyalists. These are official mode descriptions, not class-by-class build guidance.
For a practical build, decide what you want to contribute during those fights: reliable damage at your preferred range, close-combat pressure, or squad and survivability utility. Then check that your chosen class, weapons, and perks are actually selectable in Chaos Siege. The official materials reviewed do not establish which classes are playable there, so do not assume every Operations class or loadout is available.
Choose a build around your squad job
Ranged damage
Choose weapons and perks that let you contribute consistently at the range you prefer. Patch 15 raised base damage for several PvE primary weapons, but the patch notes do not prove that any one of them is best in Siege. If you favor a Melta Rifle, account for its smaller base ammunition capacity and more aggressive damage falloff rather than judging it by the damage increase alone.

Close-combat pressure
Before committing to a melee-focused setup, verify what the class can equip in Siege and what ranged capability you give up. For Tactical, Patch 15 permits a Power Sword, Power Axe, or One-Handed Thunder Hammer, but equipping one prevents Tactical from equipping a primary weapon. Treat that as a deliberate trade, not a free melee upgrade.
Squad support or staying power
Favor available perks that improve the kind of support your squad needs. Patch 15 added Tactical choices affecting Auspex damage, charges, radius, and duration, as well as squad melee damage. Armour Reinforcement restores one armour segment on non-finisher Gun Strikes. These are options to weigh against your build’s damage and range, not a universal perk order.

Update Tactical builds for Patch 15
Patch 15 reworked Tactical perks, so older perk recommendations may no longer describe the current choices. The key changes are:
- Starting perk: bolt weapons gain one additional penetration, and Bolter weapons deal 20% more non-headshot damage, according to Focus Entertainment’s Patch 15 notes.
- Kraken Penetrator Rounds: moved into the starting perk. The former perk slot now offers Armour Reinforcement, which restores one armour segment on non-finisher Gun Strikes.
- Other new choices: perks affect Auspex damage, charges, radius, or duration; squad melee damage; or the option to replace the secondary weapon with a primary Bolt Rifle.
- Melee weapon trade-off: a Tactical Power Sword, Power Axe, or One-Handed Thunder Hammer prevents equipping a primary weapon.
Use these changes to re-check the role you intended the build to fill. For example, a Tactical setup centered on Bolter fire should account for the starting perk’s stated non-headshot bonus; a setup built around a selected melee weapon must account for losing the primary slot. Which combination performs best in Chaos Siege has not been established by the official notes.

Reassess weapon assumptions after the balance changes
Patch 15 increased PvE base damage for multiple primary weapons. Focus Entertainment’s patch notes list a 65% increase for the Melta Rifle and a 60% increase for the Heavy Melta Rifle, alongside ammunition-capacity reductions and more aggressive damage falloff:
| Weapon | Patch 15 PvE base damage change | Base ammunition capacity change | Other stated change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Melta Rifle | Increased by 65% | 15 to 10 rounds | More aggressive damage falloff |
| Heavy Melta Rifle | Increased by 60% | 20 to 16 rounds | More aggressive damage falloff |
These are developer-published balance figures from Patch 15, not independent performance measurements or proof that either weapon is a Siege pick. Consider the damage, reduced ammunition, and range behavior together, then make the selection based on your role and what the game offers for your class.

Keep Siege-specific choices flexible
Do not treat a Siege Blessing or Atonement combination as settled long-term advice. Focus Entertainment’s Patch 15 notes say the developers plan to revisit Siege Blessings and Atonements in Patch 16, along with some Battlefield conditions in Stratagems mode. If your build depends on those systems, check the in-game options and later patch notes before relying on an older recommendation.
A quick build checklist
- Open the Chaos Siege loadout screen and confirm the class and equipment choices available for the mode.
- Pick your role: ranged damage, close-combat pressure, or squad support and staying power.
- Choose perks that serve that role, accounting for the Tactical changes if you are using Tactical.
- Check the weapon trade-offs, especially Tactical’s loss of a primary weapon when equipping a Power Sword, Power Axe, or One-Handed Thunder Hammer.
- Re-evaluate weapons using Patch 15 values, including ammunition and damage falloff—not damage increases alone.
- Review Siege Blessings and Atonements again after balance updates, since Patch 16 is expected to revisit them.
The Anniversary Update II announcement says Patch 15 is available on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. This guidance reflects the official Patch 15 materials published October 1, 2026; later balance changes may alter the relevant choices.
