You can loop a prepared Marathi Bhavgeet program into a YouTube Live broadcast with FFmpeg using -stream_loop -1, an RTMPS ingest URL, and your YouTube stream key. The loop keeps the file playing while FFmpeg runs; it does not restart FFmpeg or restore a stream after a machine, process, or network failure. Before going live, confirm rights to both the songs and the specific recordings, configure and test the encoder, and plan separately for continuous broadcast and replay archiving.

Before you start: prepare the program and clear its rights

Prepare the video file or program you intend to repeat, and confirm that your channel is authorized to broadcast every element in it. A composition and a particular sound recording can involve separate rights. Having permission for one does not necessarily clear the other. This setup guidance does not establish rights for any specific Marathi Bhavgeet; leave out any song or recording whose permissions you have not verified.

  • Keep records of applicable licenses and platform-specific permissions where the operator can access them.
  • Check that the input file plays correctly from beginning to end, with the expected audio and visuals.
  • Decide whether you need uninterrupted listening, a replay, or both. A continuous stream and a complete archive are separate operational goals.

FFmpeg’s -stream_loop -1 repeats an input indefinitely, and -re reads it at its native rate to simulate a live input. These options are documented in the FFmpeg manual; they do not provide process supervision or fault recovery.

Set up the YouTube Live broadcast

  1. Open YouTube Studio and create or schedule a live broadcast using the encoder workflow. If live streaming has not been enabled for the channel before, YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours. Set it up well before the intended start time.
  2. In the broadcast’s stream settings, obtain the server or ingest URL and stream key. Use the RTMPS endpoint YouTube provides for the broadcast.
  3. Keep the stream key private. Do not show it in screenshots or publish it in a script, log, or command shared publicly. If it is exposed, replace it through the controls available in YouTube Studio; the exact rotation procedure can vary with the current Studio interface.
  4. For the first run, make the broadcast unlisted or otherwise controlled so you can check the incoming stream before promoting it publicly.

YouTube’s encoder setup guidance covers stream credentials and activation. Google’s RTMPS ingestion guide describes RTMPS as RTMP over SSL and specifies a valid YouTube RTMPS endpoint and application path on port 443. Use the endpoint and key shown for your broadcast rather than guessing a URL.

Choose encoder settings for the program and connection

YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends H.264 video, constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval (not more than four seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio. For stereo audio, it lists 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps as recommended advanced settings. See YouTube’s live encoder settings guidance before settling on a resolution and bitrate: video settings should suit the source and the available upload bandwidth, and the specific recommendations can change.

  • Resolution and frame rate: Match the material where practical and choose an output the network can sustain. Do not select a bitrate solely because it is commonly used for another resolution or frame rate.
  • Video bitrate: Use CBR, and size the target for the chosen output and stable upload capacity. Leave headroom for normal network variation; a connection that barely matches the encoder’s target is more vulnerable to stalls.
  • Keyframes: Set the GOP interval to two seconds. For example, calculate the frame interval from the output frame rate: at 30 fps, two seconds corresponds to 60 frames. Do not exceed four seconds.
  • Audio: AAC is used in the example below. For stereo, 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps are YouTube’s listed recommended advanced settings.

The following is a starting pattern, not a tested universal preset. Replace every placeholder with values for your file, output frame rate, bandwidth, and the exact endpoint and key YouTube Studio supplies. Keep the key secret, including when adapting or sharing the command.

  -c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
  -f flv 'rtmps://YOUTUBE_INGEST_ENDPOINT/APP/STREAM_KEY'

Set KEYFRAME_INTERVAL_FRAMES to approximately two seconds of output frames—for example, 60 at 30 fps or 50 at 25 fps. Replace VIDEO_BITRATE and VIDEO_BUFFER with valid FFmpeg values rather than leaving the labels in the command. Confirm the supported pixel format, encoder, and options in your installed FFmpeg build. FFmpeg options generally apply to the next input or output, so keep input options such as -re and -stream_loop before -i, and output encoding options before the destination.

Run a controlled test, then start the live stream

  1. Run the command with the planned media, machine, FFmpeg build, and network route. Watch FFmpeg’s output for connection or encoding errors.
  2. Check the incoming preview and stream health in YouTube Studio. Confirm that the picture moves as expected, audio is present and at a sensible level, and playback does not freeze or fall behind.
  3. Test with representative content. A music program with mostly static artwork should be tested that way, rather than with unrelated high-motion footage. YouTube advises testing with audio and movement similar to the planned stream and monitoring stream health during the event.
  4. Once the test is healthy, start or schedule the intended broadcast in Studio and verify that the correct broadcast is receiving the feed.

A successful FFmpeg connection only shows that the process can send its configured output at that moment. It does not prove that the computer, operating system, storage, network, or YouTube broadcast will remain available indefinitely.

Keep a 24/7 stream running reliably

-stream_loop -1 handles repeating the input, not recovery from a stopped FFmpeg process, a reboot, a host failure, or a broken network connection. For a self-hosted setup, continuous operation therefore requires separate operational planning.

  • Run FFmpeg on a machine and connection intended to remain available, and ensure the program file stays accessible.
  • Arrange process supervision or a documented restart procedure, and retain logs that make disconnects and encoder errors diagnosable.
  • Monitor both the host and YouTube’s stream health. A process that remains open is not proof that viewers are receiving a healthy feed.
  • Decide who will respond to alerts and how the stream will be restored after an outage. The cited platform and FFmpeg guidance does not specify a complete failover design.

Plan for YouTube replay limits separately

YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A 24/7 broadcast is longer than that stated window, so do not assume one continuous day- or multi-day stream will become one complete replay. If a full replay matters, plan separate broadcast segments or a separate local recording, and check the current behavior and controls in YouTube Studio before relying on an archive. The YouTube Live API also distinguishes a live stream feed from a live broadcast resource, but that API model is not a ready-made, tested implementation for this workflow.

Troubleshooting common FFmpeg and YouTube Live problems

Symptom Likely cause What to check or do
YouTube does not show an incoming stream Incorrect endpoint or key, live access not yet activated, or connection failure. Compare the destination with the exact RTMPS URL and key in Studio, check that live activation is complete, and inspect FFmpeg’s connection errors. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
Stream health is poor, or playback stutters The upload connection may not sustain the selected output bitrate, or the encoder may be overloaded. Monitor Studio’s stream health and FFmpeg output. Test a lower output bitrate or resolution, then repeat the test on the same machine and connection intended for the broadcast.
Video does not repeat The loop option may be missing, misplaced, or applied to a different input. Place -stream_loop -1 before the relevant -i input and check the installed FFmpeg manual.
Audio is missing or unsuitable The source may have no usable audio stream, or the output audio configuration may not match the intended program. Check the file’s audio, FFmpeg’s mapping and output messages, and the YouTube preview. Confirm the selected AAC or MP3 output and stereo settings where applicable.
The stream stops after a host or network interruption Input looping does not restart a failed process or repair a failed host or connection. Use a monitored restart or supervision plan, then confirm in Studio that the broadcast is receiving a healthy feed again. Test recovery procedures before relying on them.
A replay is incomplete or absent after a long broadcast A 24/7 broadcast exceeds YouTube’s stated automatic-archive guidance for streams under 12 hours. Plan separate segments or a local recording if replay preservation matters, and verify current archive behavior in Studio.
