March of Giants is currently documented for testing on Steam for Windows PC. Ubisoft has not confirmed console versions, cross-play, or cross-progression in the official information available as of October 3, 2026. Its Pioneer Playtest is announced for October 7–18, 2026; check the live Steam listing for access instructions and current system requirements.
What is March of Giants?
Ubisoft describes March of Giants as a free-to-play 4v4 MOBA. Players control giant heroes, command soldiers across lane-based battles, and use Battleworks such as trenches and bunkers to change their tactical options. Ubisoft Montreal product marketing manager Laure Guilbert described the intended audience as “people who love gunpowder fantasy and steampunk.”
Which platforms can you play March of Giants on?
The official test instructions identify Steam on Windows PC. Ubisoft has not confirmed a console version in the official sources available as of October 3, 2026, so console availability should not be assumed.
Ubisoft Montreal announced the Pioneer Playtest for October 7–18, 2026, with access handled through Steam’s Request Access option. The interview also described additional sessions planned for winter and spring, and Early Access planned for summer 2027; those are plans, not guaranteed dates. Check the Steam listing for current access and requirements.

The September 2025 closed alpha required players to sign in or create an Amazon Games iD and link Steam for the rewards described for that test. Do not assume that setup applies to the 2026 playtest; follow its current Steam instructions.
Does March of Giants have cross-play or cross-progression?
Neither feature has been officially confirmed in the material available as of October 3, 2026. The 2025 alpha’s Steam-friend invitations showed how players could invite Steam friends for that test; they do not establish cross-platform play. Likewise, there is no confirmed account-wide progression or carryover policy for the 2026 test or eventual release.

How does matchmaking work?
The detailed matchmaking information available is specific to the September 2025 closed alpha. PvP matchmaking opened later on the alpha’s first day, and Ubisoft warned that queues could be longer while it gradually increased concurrent-player capacity. The alpha article also said its servers were in North America and cautioned that players invited from other regions could experience high ping and degraded play.
Those notices do not establish the 2026 playtest’s queue policy or server locations. Official information available as of October 3, 2026 does not specify ranked matchmaking, skill ratings, role queues, party-size restrictions, regional selection, or a target queue time.

Does progression carry over?
Not from the 2025 closed alpha to future tests: Ubisoft explicitly said progress, including unlocked Giants, would not carry over. That alpha started participants with access to 10 semi-randomized Giants; challenges unlocked the other five of its 15 playable Giants. Ubisoft said the challenges were tuned to be quick and that their mechanics could change in later tests.
This was an alpha-specific arrangement. The current 2026 playtest’s unlock rules, permanent progression, currencies, monetization, and any carryover into Early Access have not been established in the official information available as of October 3, 2026.
