To find where to vote in the United States, use your state or local election office’s official polling-place lookup, or check your voter registration information. Then confirm the hours for your specific election with that office. Polling locations and hours depend on your address, jurisdiction and election, and a location can change from one election to the next.
How do I find my polling place?
-
Start at USAGov’s Find your polling place page. It directs you to your state or local election office, which assigns your polling place, and notes that you can also check your voter registration information.
-
Open the current lookup provided by your state or local election office. Enter your current residential address and make sure the result applies to the election you plan to vote in.
-
If you are unsure which office serves you, use USAGov’s election-office directory to find the appropriate state or local office.

Check the assigned location again before each election. Do not treat an address from a previous election or an old voter card as final confirmation.
Your assigned polling place is the location where you should vote. There is no single national polling-place address or universal set of voting hours.
How do I check polling-place hours?
Confirm the opening and closing times with the election office responsible for your location, and ask about the particular election. Hours vary by jurisdiction; early-voting schedules can also differ by state or territory. Do not assume that a schedule from another county, election or year applies to you.

If you arrive close to closing time, U.S. Vote Foundation’s Voter Helpdesk guidance explains that closing time generally refers to the deadline to be in line, not the time by which you must already have finished voting. Contact local election officials for any jurisdiction-specific instructions.
What if I moved or the lookup looks wrong?
If you moved
Follow your state’s voter-registration instructions to update your address. USAGov says updating your information assigns a polling place near your new home; Vote.gov’s registration page lets you select your state or territory for the applicable steps.
If the location seems incorrect
Contact the election office before traveling and ask it to confirm your assigned site and the hours for the election. Have your current residential address and election date ready so staff can check the right assignment.
Do not simply go to a different polling place. Your name may not be on that location’s roster, and voting elsewhere may require a provisional ballot that may not count.
Ask about accessibility and other voting options
Voters with disabilities have a right to an accessible polling place, but may need to request one in advance. Contact your state or local election office about location accommodations and accessible voting equipment.
Early voting and voting by mail may be available, but eligibility, timing and rules vary by state or territory. Check your election office’s official guidance rather than assuming an option is available everywhere.
