Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War has an official PC path through its Steam version, which the Steam listing ties to Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. But the listing examined still describes Zero as a preorder offer even though it gives Ace Combat 8’s release date as October 1, 2026. Check the offer and your entitlement on your regional Steam page before paying; the available information does not establish that every post-launch purchase includes Zero or that Zero can be bought on its own.

Ways to play Ace Combat Zero on or through a PC

Route What to obtain What to check
Official PC release Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve on Steam, with the Steam version of Zero if the offer grants it. Whether the current regional offer includes Zero, whether your account has the entitlement, language support, and the requirement to install Ace Combat 8.
Original PlayStation 2 hardware A used PS2 copy of Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War and compatible PS2 hardware. Disc condition, region, console compatibility, and working hardware.
PC emulation A legitimate original game copy and PCSX2. Legal sourcing of the game and BIOS files, plus current emulator setup guidance.

How to check the official Steam offer

The Steam product listing describes Zero as a separately launched DLC executable included as a preorder offer for Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. It also says Ace Combat 8 must be installed to use DLC. Because the page examined retains preorder wording despite its stated October 1, 2026 release date, treat the wording as time-sensitive rather than assuming a new purchase qualifies.

  1. Open the Steam listing for ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE and check the offer shown for your region.
  2. Before buying, verify that the listing or your account’s purchase details explicitly grant the Steam version of Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War. Do not assume Zero is included with every copy of Ace Combat 8.
  3. Check the language details for Zero itself. The listing names Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish support for the Steam version, and warns that supported languages may differ from Ace Combat 8.
  4. If you obtain Zero, install Ace Combat 8 as well; Steam states that the base game must be installed to use DLC.

The publisher announced the PC route in its Ace Combat 8 preorder announcement. The Steam listing does not establish that Zero is separately purchasable, nor does it confirm that all buyers after launch receive it. If the offer or entitlement is unclear, wait for an explicit store clarification rather than relying on old preorder descriptions.

Buying the original PS2 game

The original Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War was released for PlayStation 2 on March 23, 2006, according to Bandai Namco’s game page. A used disc is an option if you have compatible PS2 hardware. Inspect the disc and confirm its region matches your console; Bandai Namco also uses the title Ace Combat: The Belkan War in some European regions, so check the exact edition being sold.

Playing a legitimate PS2 copy on PCSX2

PCSX2’s compatibility database lists the North American PS2 edition, SLUS-21346, as “Playable.” That is a compatibility status for that edition, not a guarantee about every regional release, a source for game files, or confirmation that obtaining BIOS or game files from a particular source is lawful. Use a legitimately owned copy and consult PCSX2’s current guidance for setup and file sourcing.

See the PCSX2 compatibility list for the entry. Its listing can help establish whether the North American version is documented as playable, but it does not itself provide the game or BIOS files.
