The newer port is a separate release route: Bandai Namco offered it as a pre-order bonus with qualifying Ace Combat 8 editions, and its current official materials do not establish whether it can be bought separately.

| Original release | Bandai Namco lists the 2006 game for PlayStation 2. It stands on its own and does not require Ace Combat 8. Bandai Namco’s game listing | Check that your hardware can play PS2 games, and verify the disc’s region and condition if buying a used copy. |
| Newer port | Bandai Namco Europe describes the port as a pre-order bonus for specified Ace Combat 8 editions. It lists PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC as supported platforms. Bandai Namco Europe’s edition guide | Check the edition and storefront for your region. The official materials reviewed do not say whether the port is available as a separate purchase after launch. |
So if you mean the original PS2 game, you can play it without Ace Combat 8. If you mean the newer port, its announced access route was tied to qualifying Ace Combat 8 pre-orders.
How did the Ace Combat 8 pre-order bonus work?
Bandai Namco Europe’s guide says every edition pre-ordered before October 2, 2026 included the Ace Combat Zero bonus. Bandai Namco America announced that Ace Combat 8 launched worldwide on October 2, 2026, so that stated pre-order window has passed. The offer does not establish that the port is now included with every copy or edition, nor that it can be purchased separately. Bandai Namco America’s release announcement

The port also requires an internet connection to access the bonus, according to the publisher’s listing. For present-day availability or entitlement terms, check the specific platform store and edition in your region rather than assuming the former pre-order offer still applies.
