The key choice is whether to buy Standard, pay extra for Premium’s early access and digital extras, or use day-one access through Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass. This guide reflects official information available on October 3, 2026; the scheduled launch is still in the future.
When does Gears of War: E-Day come out, and where can you play it?
Xbox lists October 6, 2026, as the release date for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. Xbox identifies Microsoft Store and Steam as PC storefronts. Xbox Wire also lists cloud availability, which may vary by storefront and territory. See the Xbox game listing and Xbox Wire’s multiplayer announcement.
The game supports Xbox Play Anywhere: one eligible digital purchase works on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC, with shared progression and achievements. Check the specific storefront and territory before buying if you need a particular format or platform.
Which purchase option makes sense?
| Option | Listed US price | What you get | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | $69.99, as listed on Xbox’s product page | Base game | Players who want to own the game and do not need Premium extras or early access |
| Premium Edition | $99.99, as listed on Xbox’s product page | Base game, up to five days of early access, Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack, five seasonal customization packs, and 1,000 Iron | Players who value early access and the included digital extras |
| Premium upgrade | $30, as listed on Xbox’s product page | Premium additions for owners of Standard | Players who buy Standard first and later decide the Premium extras are worth the added cost |
| Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass | Not stated on the cited game pages | Day-one access while eligible subscription access applies | Subscribers weighing access against buying a copy; compare current subscription terms with how long you expect to play |
The three dollar amounts above are the Xbox page’s listed prices, not a guarantee of pricing in every country or storefront; verify the current price before purchase. Xbox says day-one access is included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. That inclusion is separate from the subscription requirement for online multiplayer.
