Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo protect your official NYT Wordle streak while traveling, sign in to the same New York Times account on the device you’ll use, then solve the day’s puzzle before midnight in the timezone the game is using. NYT documents account-based progress syncing and the local-midnight deadline, but it does not confirm that an offline solve will count or sync later. If you may lose internet access, the safest plan is to finish the puzzle while connected.
Set up your account before switching devices
NYT recommends signing in to an account to access Wordle progress and statistics across devices. When you’re signed out, progress is stored locally on that device and may be lost if you change devices or clear local data. See the NYT Games account guidance.
- Open Wordle on the device you plan to use, through the Games app, NYT Wordle website, or News app.
- Sign in to the same NYT account you use on your other devices.
- Check that your statistics and current streak appear before you travel.
The daily Wordle is free to play; a subscription is not required for that game. Archive access is a separate feature with different access requirements.
Know which midnight controls your streak
NYT says the daily puzzle releases at midnight in your timezone. Its Wordle help page says the current streak includes consecutive wins only when each puzzle is solved before local midnight. If a trip or timezone change makes the cutoff uncertain, use the release and deadline shown by the game rather than assuming the puzzle follows your home timezone. See NYT Wordle help.

In practical terms, complete that day’s puzzle before the applicable local-midnight cutoff. Finishing after midnight does not count toward the previous day’s current streak and starts a new streak.
Can you play Wordle offline and sync it later?
NYT’s published Wordle and account guidance does not establish whether the daily game can be completed offline or whether an offline result will sync to your streak after reconnecting. That is unverified—not proof that offline play is impossible. Do not rely on airplane mode, a cached page, or changing your device clock as a dependable way to preserve a streak; NYT does not validate those workarounds.
Rank #2
If you expect to be without reliable internet, solve the day’s puzzle while connected and before the cutoff. This follows NYT’s documented timing rule without assuming offline completion or later syncing will work.
Why the Wordle Archive won’t repair a missed day
The official archive offers past puzzles, but archive play does not affect your current or maximum streak. It can affect statistics, while streaks count puzzles played on their release day. NYT says the archive begins with the puzzle from June 19, 2021, requires an NYT account, and is available to Games and All Access subscribers, including Home Delivery subscribers. The daily Wordle itself does not require a subscription.

- Confirm that the correct NYT account is signed in on the device you’re using.
- If the statistics still look wrong, report a bug in the app or use Contact Us on the web, as directed by NYT’s Wordle help page.
NYT says that in some cases a team member may be able to manually restore a streak; restoration is not guaranteed.
