Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsOn a PS5 Pro, open Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output and check Enhance PSSR Image Quality. Sony says it is on by default on consoles in the CFI-7000 model group. To check a game, look for it on Sony’s current Enhanced PSSR supported-title list and check its update notes. That confirms support—not that PSSR is visibly active in a particular play session; Sony does not document a per-game status indicator.
What the PS5 Pro PSSR setting does
PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) is Sony’s AI upscaling technology for PS5 Pro. It processes game imagery as it upscales it; it is not a general PS5 feature and the system toggle does not add PSSR to every game. A title must support the technology for the setting to apply. Sony’s March 16, 2026 announcement describes the upgraded PSSR rollout for compatible games.

Enable or inspect Enhance PSSR Image Quality
- Confirm the console: The setting is available only on PS5 Pro consoles in the CFI-7000 model group. Make sure the console’s system software is current.
- Open the video settings: From the home screen, go to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output.
- Check the option: Select or inspect Enhance PSSR Image Quality. Sony says it is on by default. If it is off, enable it to apply the option in games that support PSSR. Sony’s PS5 resolution support guide documents the path and setting.
The setting is separate from Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games. That PS4 option is not the PSSR control.
Check whether a game supports Enhanced PSSR
Check the game against Sony’s PS5 Pro supported-title list, under “Supported titles with Enhanced PSSR.” On the page checked October 3, 2026, Sony listed:

This list is a snapshot, not a permanent or exhaustive catalogue. Sony may update it, and game support can depend on title-specific updates. Check the game’s patch notes as well as Sony’s page for the latest information.
What you can—and cannot—verify in a play session
The console toggle and Sony’s game list let you check that the system option is enabled and that a title is listed as supporting Enhanced PSSR. Sony’s reviewed documentation does not describe an in-game indicator that confirms PSSR is active in a specific session. Seeing the option switched on, or noticing a sharper image, does not by itself prove that a particular game is using it at that moment.

For title-specific behavior, check the game’s update notes and graphics-mode descriptions. Developers may describe changes for particular modes, but Sony does not promise identical results across games; its product page says, “Results will vary by title.” Sony and developers describe goals such as improved image quality, stability, and clarity, but those statements are not a guarantee of the same visible result for every player or game.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. If the image looks worse after enabling it
Sony says the setting can be turned off. If a compatible game shows unexpected visual effects or looks worse to you, return to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > Enhance PSSR Image Quality and disable it. Because results vary by title, compare the game with the option on and off using the same scene and graphics mode.
