For a continuous pre-recorded YouTube stream, Castr is the clearer fit of the two: it documents cloud playout to YouTube and unlimited stream duration while your subscription is active and has enough bandwidth. Its Starter plan is US$19.99 month-to-month or US$199.99 billed annually. Dacast’s pricing page lists a Starter plan at US$39 per month billed annually with 2.4 TB per year, but its feature-comparison section also shows a different US$29 monthly figure. Confirm the billing view and Dacast’s direct YouTube support before choosing. Those are published USD prices, not verified India checkout totals.
Which service is the better fit for a 24/7 YouTube stream?
Castr is the more clearly documented option for this particular workflow. Its platform describes scheduled cloud playout and sending pre-recorded live video to YouTube; its Help Center says unlimited live duration is supported when the subscription is active and has enough streaming bandwidth. That is a conditional capability, not a guarantee of uninterrupted delivery: the source, account, bandwidth, and YouTube destination must still work.
Dacast publishes live-streaming plans and bandwidth details, but the available product information does not confirm direct YouTube destination support for the specific plan or account you would use. Ask Dacast to confirm that route before treating it as a direct competitor for this workflow.
If your priority is simply keeping uploaded video looping on YouTube, StreamNeo is another option to consider: it runs from the cloud, supports uploaded video up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. See StreamNeo.

Plan prices and bandwidth at a glance
The following are the plans and figures displayed on the vendors’ pricing pages accessed October 4, 2026. Dacast shows two different monthly-price views on the same page; check the selected billing option and checkout total rather than assuming they mean the same payment schedule.
| Service and plan | Published price and billing | Included bandwidth | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dacast Starter | US$39/month billed annually | 2.4 TB per year | The feature-comparison section separately shows US$29 monthly. Verify the applicable billing view and amount at checkout. |
| Dacast Event | US$63/month billed annually | 6 TB upfront | Confirm the billing period and the exact bandwidth terms for the selected plan. |
| Dacast Scale | US$165/month billed annually | 24 TB per year | Confirm the billing period and the exact bandwidth terms for the selected plan. |
| Castr Starter, monthly billing | US$19.99 per month | 200 GB per month | Month-to-month price and monthly allowance. |
| Castr Starter, annual billing | US$199.99 billed annually; the page displays a US$16.67 monthly equivalent | 2.4 TB upfront | The annual amount is charged upfront. Castr describes annual billing as two months free. |
On a simple annual cash-cost comparison, Castr Starter is US$239.88 over 12 monthly payments or US$199.99 upfront for annual billing. Dacast Starter at US$39/month billed annually works out to US$468 over a year. That comparison does not resolve Dacast’s separate US$29 monthly figure, and it does not account for the different bandwidth measurement and allocation terms.

How much bandwidth does nonstop streaming need?
The stream’s running time alone is not enough to choose a plan. Bandwidth depends on the video bitrate, how many people watch, and how long they watch. A platform’s allowance generally has to cover delivery to viewers, not just the source running continuously. Dacast directs customers to estimate needs using expected viewers, viewing time, and quality; Castr likewise advises estimating viewer bandwidth before selecting a plan.

Estimate one continuous viewer at a time
As a rough decimal-unit estimate, each 1 Mbps of delivered video bitrate consumes about 10.8 GB per day, or 324 GB over 30 days, for one viewer watching continuously. This is arithmetic from bitrate and time, not a vendor promise or a measured overhead-inclusive total. At 2 Mbps, for example, one continuous viewer would use roughly 648 GB over 30 days before accounting for protocol overhead or other delivery needs. Multiply by concurrent viewers to estimate aggregate delivery: ten continuous viewers at 2 Mbps would be about 6.48 TB over 30 days by the same calculation.
Actual viewing is rarely perfectly continuous, so estimate using average concurrent viewers and average watch time, then leave headroom. A low average bitrate can still consume substantial bandwidth at 24/7 duration; a small audience can become expensive if the stream is watched continuously by many people.

Match the estimate to the plan’s accounting
- Castr: its Starter allowance is labeled player bandwidth, with 200 GB per month on monthly billing or 2.4 TB upfront on annual billing. Higher plans increase price and player-bandwidth limits.
- Dacast: it describes account bandwidth, says unused bandwidth rolls over until it is used or the account is canceled, and says bandwidth expires 12 months after it is received. It also says a stream can shut off after the allowance is exceeded unless optional overage protection is enabled at US$0.30/GB.
- Do not treat the pools as identical: compare the plan’s definition, allowance period, rollover rules, cutoff behavior, and any overage charges alongside your own viewer estimate.
What to verify before buying from India
- Confirm Dacast’s YouTube route. Ask whether the exact plan and account can send the live output directly to YouTube, and whether any feature or configuration is required.
- Choose the billing cadence first. Compare Castr monthly with a genuinely monthly Dacast checkout, or compare annual totals with annual totals. For Dacast, resolve the difference between its pricing-page headline billing figures and the feature-comparison figures.
- Check your monthly viewer load. Estimate bitrate × watched hours × average concurrent viewers, then compare the result with the plan’s allowance and billing-period pool.
- Review overage and interruption behavior. For Dacast, determine whether overage protection is enabled and how exceeding the pool affects the stream. For Castr, ensure the subscription’s bandwidth is sufficient for the planned audience.
- Check the final checkout amount. Neither vendor’s reviewed public price establishes an India-specific rupee total, tax treatment, or payment fee. Use the checkout amount as the payable figure.
Do not rely on a 24-hour YouTube stream as its own archive
YouTube Help warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, while streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived. A nonstop stream will cross that threshold in half a day, so do not assume YouTube will create one complete recording of a 24/7 broadcast.
- Keep a local recording or other independent archive if the content must be preserved; YouTube recommends recording a local archive as backup.
- Plan how to divide, publish, or replace recordings rather than relying on one uninterrupted live event to become a full-length video-on-demand file.
- Test the recording and recovery process before leaving a channel unattended. A cloud playout service does not remove the need for an archive plan.
Recommendation: choose by workflow certainty, not headline price
- StreamNeo — first to try for uploaded-video looping on YouTube: it keeps the stream running in the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and gives the first day free. Upload a video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support. It streams to YouTube only and plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a live camera. The same product is on every plan; only the duration changes. UPI and cards are available in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. For five or more slots, contact support.
- Castr — clearest documented fit between these two: it documents continuous cloud playout and pre-recorded live video delivery to YouTube, with unlimited duration conditional on an active subscription and sufficient bandwidth. Choose it if its bandwidth pool and billing terms suit the audience you expect.
- Dacast — confirm the destination first: its pricing page gives plan and bandwidth figures, but direct YouTube delivery for the intended plan/account is not established here. Resolve that question before comparing its price as a complete YouTube workflow.
StreamNeo’s duration options are: Daily $0.99 per day · Weekly $2.99 per week · Monthly $9.99 per month · 6 months $49.99 for 6 months · Yearly $89.99 a year.
