For a local copy you can open offline, Firefox’s Save Page As → Web page, complete saves an HTML file alongside a folder of pictures and other display resources. If you need a single file instead, Chrome’s MHTML capture or the SingleFile project are alternatives. None of these methods guarantees that every site will look or behave exactly as it does online, so reopen the saved copy offline and check the resources that matter.
Save a webpage with images and CSS in Firefox
- Open the webpage you want to keep.
- Open the Firefox menu and choose Save Page As.
- In the format or type menu, choose Web page, complete.
- Choose a filename and location, then save. Firefox creates an HTML file and a companion folder for pictures and other files used to display the page. Mozilla’s save-page instructions describe this option as saving the whole page with pictures.
- To verify the archive, disconnect from the internet or otherwise go offline, open the saved HTML file, and inspect the images and styling you need.
The complete-page option may not preserve the original HTML link structure. If retaining that structure matters more than including images, Firefox also offers Web page, HTML only; it saves the page without pictures. These behaviors are documented by Mozilla, but the result can vary by site.
Save an individual page resource
For a specific image or other page element rather than a complete archive, Mozilla points to the Page Info window’s Media panel, which can be used to save page elements such as images, scripts, and stylesheets. See Mozilla’s Page Info documentation.
Choose a single-file archive instead
A single file is simpler to move or attach than an HTML file plus resource folder. The available options differ in format and packaging, and the cited documentation does not promise a perfect reproduction of every site.

When to choose each format
- Choose Firefox’s complete-page option when a companion folder is acceptable and you want the browser’s built-in save workflow.
- Choose MHTML or SingleFile when keeping the page and its resources together in one file is more convenient.
- Choose Firefox’s HTML-only option when preserving the original HTML link structure is important and you do not need the page’s pictures included.
Check the archive before relying on it
Saving a page packages resources for later viewing; it does not establish that every interactive feature, remote resource, or visual detail has been captured. After saving, open the file while offline and check the particular images and styles you need. If something is missing or the layout differs, try another save method and verify its result before treating the archive as a faithful record.
