Neither is a direct substitute for the other. The latest dated Sui update cited here, from September 2, 2026, said Hashi had not shipped; Remittix said on October 1 that testing had opened to an initial group of 1,000 users. Those are project-reported status updates, not independent confirmation of availability.
What are Hashi and Remittix PayFi for?
Hashi: financial use of Bitcoin collateral
Hashi is a Sui-associated protocol project intended to support Bitcoin-backed lending, borrowing, and yield strategies without requiring users to sell their BTC. Sui Foundation describes a design in which Bitcoin remains on the Bitcoin network while users access financial applications built around the collateral. In practical terms, its intended appeal is to a Bitcoin holder who wants to seek liquidity or other financial uses for BTC.
Sui Foundation’s BTCfi ecosystem page also presents a wider set of Bitcoin-related activity on Sui, including lending, trading, yield strategies, BTC-backed assets, infrastructure, and wallets. Its July 29, 2025 overview listed assets and integrations available at that time, but that dated list should not be treated as a current directory. Neither the ecosystem page nor an integration listing is an independent assessment of a service’s security, economics, or present availability.
Remittix: crypto-to-fiat payments
Remittix describes PayFi as a way to send crypto and have fiat delivered to a compatible bank account. Its website says settlement currencies may include EUR, GBP, and USD depending on country and account type, and describes KYC as part of the service. Those are Remittix’s own product descriptions; they do not establish which users, tokens, banks, or countries can use the service in practice.

The intended user need is different from Hashi’s: PayFi is for someone seeking a bank-bound fiat payment from crypto, rather than a loan secured by BTC or a yield strategy using BTC collateral.

The dates matter: a testnet announcement is not evidence of a production service, and a company’s announcement of limited testing is not independent confirmation that the service is available or performing as described. For a decision today, check each project’s current documentation and access information rather than treating these dated announcements as live product status.

What does Hashi say about Bitcoin collateral safeguards?
Sui Foundation’s July 22, 2026 testnet announcement describes a Guardian Layer and a 2-of-2 multisignature arrangement for BTC collateral or UTXOs. According to Sui, a transaction requires both a Hashi-validator MPC signature and a guardian signature; the post says safeguards can slow or prevent potentially malicious activity before collateral leaves the system. These are descriptions of intended protocol controls, not proof that theft, failure, or loss is impossible.
In its September 2, 2026 overview, Sui Foundation also reported an on-chain insurance fund denominated in BTC and more than 20 institutional partners, naming BitGo, Ledger, Cumberland, and FalconX. Those figures and descriptions are Sui’s claims, not independently verified counts or a guarantee that users would be made whole after a loss. An insurance fund’s existence alone does not establish its coverage, conditions, or adequacy.

Sui’s March 19, 2026 introduction said audit and formal-verification work was planned with Asymptotic, Certora, and OtterSec. A plan to conduct security work should not be read as evidence that audits or formal verification were completed. Before placing assets at risk, look for dated audit reports, their scope and findings, how issues were addressed, and clear documentation of custody, recovery, and loss allocation.
What should you verify before using either project?
The available announcements do not support a balanced numerical comparison of fees, settlement speed, collateral terms, or returns. The practical questions differ by product, so use the relevant checks below rather than comparing headline claims alone.

If you are considering Hashi or another BTCfi service
- Confirm whether the specific product is on testnet or production, and whether your account can actually access it.
- Read how BTC collateral is controlled, what signatures or parties are required to move it, and what happens if a validator, guardian, or other critical participant is unavailable.
- Find the collateral ratio, borrowing rate, liquidation trigger, fees, and the process for recovering collateral. Do not infer these terms from general Hashi descriptions.
- Check the scope and date of completed security reviews and the precise coverage, exclusions, and claims process for any insurance fund.
If you are considering Remittix PayFi
- Confirm that testing or service access is open to you, and verify supported countries, crypto assets, destination banks, and account requirements directly.
- Ask for the full cost of a payment, including any conversion spread or bank charge, and a realistic settlement window for your route.
- Understand when crypto is converted, who holds it during processing, what happens to failed or delayed transfers, and how refunds or disputes are handled.
- Look for independently verifiable operational and security information rather than relying only on the company’s statements about speed, fees, or availability.
Which one fits your need?
Hashi is the more relevant concept if your goal is to use Bitcoin as collateral for borrowing or a financial strategy while retaining exposure to BTC. Remittix PayFi is the more relevant concept if your goal is to turn crypto into fiat delivered to a bank account. That distinction describes their intended jobs, not a recommendation to deposit funds: the cited sources do not establish comparable user protections, costs, or live availability for either project.
