What Samsung says about 3× zoom movement and blur
Samsung’s current US support guidance describes two behaviors that can occur while changing zoom levels to 3×. The screen may move briefly as the camera switches, which Samsung attributes to positional parallax. The corners of an image may also look blurry when autofocus moves the lens during zoom adjustments. Samsung’s stated advice is: “Ensure your device’s software version is always up to date.” Samsung’s 3× zoom support page does not name a particular software patch as the fix.
Check for a software update
- Open Settings on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
- Tap Software update.
- Tap Download and install, then follow any on-screen prompts if an update is available.
Samsung notes that update availability can vary by region or carrier. If the behavior continues, contact Samsung support or report it through Samsung Members; the support guidance does not establish that every instance is resolved on every model, carrier, or software build.
Do not confuse 3× zoom blur with the macro-cropping issue
The separately reported cropping problem involved close-up or macro photos taken with Focus Enhancer, 24 MP resolution, and 2× zoom—not the 3× zoom behavior on Samsung’s support page.

PhoneArena reported on April 3, 2026, that Samsung acknowledged blurry 3× zoom photos and that the April 2026 security patch addressed the issue. Android Central’s April 4 report covered Samsung’s investigation and a planned future update, so it predates the later patch report. These dated accounts provide context; Samsung’s current US support page itself recommends updating but does not specify that patch or confirm the status of every regional rollout. Is Samsung testing an “unconventional” fix?
The sources cited here do not verify that Samsung is currently testing an unconventional fix, or say what such a fix would be. Treat that wording as an attributed report rather than confirmed Samsung information. The confirmed guidance available to owners is to check for software updates; the separate macro-cropping reports describe a software fix rolling out in South Korea and the US.
