Target allows a price match at purchase or a request for a price adjustment within 14 days after purchase, provided the item and lower price meet its rules. Check the live Target.com or Target app price, verify the exact item and applicable location, and use Target’s accepted proof and request channel. Keep your receipt or packing slip if you may ask for an adjustment later. Target’s Price Match Guarantee is the authority to check before making a request; policies can change.
What is Target’s price match policy?
Target may match a qualifying lower price when you buy an item, or adjust the price after purchase if you request it within 14 days. The item must be identical, and the lower price must be listed and valid when Target checks it. Target may decline a price it cannot verify. See the current Price Match Guarantee policy for its complete conditions and exclusions.
For a post-purchase request, retain your receipt or packing slip and find a current qualifying lower price before contacting Target. A promotion that has ended generally cannot be applied retroactively: Target says it cannot match a previous price once the item is no longer on sale.
How to check whether a lower price qualifies
1. Confirm the item is identical
Compare the brand, size, weight, color, quantity, and model number. A similar product or a different configuration does not meet the stated identical-item requirement.

2. Verify the current price and location
Check the item’s live listing on Target.com or in the Target app. If checking an in-store price, set the app to the store you plan to visit; prices and availability may vary by location, and Target excludes in-store prices from another Target store. Target.com or app price matches are unavailable in Alaska and Hawaii.
Target says the price must be listed and valid at the time of the match. A price-history or comparison-shopping site can help you discover a possible deal, but it is not proof: Target warns those sites may be outdated and requires validation against Target.com or its digital ad. 3. Check the deal type and exclusions
Target lists exclusions covering, among other cases, clearance, closeout, liquidation, damaged, used, open-package, refurbished, and pre-owned items; total-purchase discounts and minimum-purchase deals; typographical errors; and some gift-card, coupon, financing, service, bundle, rebate, free-item, pre-order, optical, clinic, pharmacy, and mobile-contract offers. Alcohol is subject to state rules. Target items cannot be matched to Target Plus items; Target Plus partner purchases follow a separate policy tied to the same partner. Because exceptions are specific, check the live policy rather than assuming a particular promotion qualifies.
Qualifying automatic Target Circle deals may be matched. Just-for-you Target Circle Bonuses that shoppers must activate cannot be combined with a price match. See Target Circle deal information and the current price-match policy.

How to request a match or adjustment
In a Target store
- Ask for the match at checkout or at Guest Services.
- Show the current Target.com price or digital ad on your device. Target does not accept screenshots or pictures as proof.
- For an adjustment after purchase, bring the receipt or packing slip and make the request within 14 days of purchase.
For an online or app order
- Have your order number and the item details ready.
- Contact Target Guest Services by chat or phone and provide the current qualifying price for verification.
- If seeking an adjustment, do so within 14 days of purchase and retain the receipt or packing slip.
How to track a price during the 14-day window
- Record the purchase date, product model or other exact identifier, and order or receipt details.
- Recheck the live Target.com listing or the relevant store price in the Target app before the 14-day deadline.
- If a lower price appears, verify that the item, deal, location, and channel meet the policy, then contact the appropriate channel with current proof.
Third-party price-history pages can point you toward a potential change, but verify it directly with Target. Do not assume that an earlier offer remains eligible after it ends.
What Target’s “Was” price tells you
A strikethrough “Was” price on Target.com is not a guarantee of the item’s full price history or its lowest prior price. Target says the online Was price is calculated using the 90-day median price offered on Target.com and in the Target app, excluding sales, clearance, and other limited-time promotional offers.
