Kylie Kelce apologized after learning that her reference to Catherine, Princess of Wales, as “Princess Kate” was considered offensive. She said she would use “Princess Catherine” or “the Princess of Wales” instead. The reports do not establish that Catherine personally asked Kelce to apologize.

What did Kylie Kelce say?

On September 24, 2026, Kelce invited the Princess of Wales to join her Not Gonna Lie podcast. She addressed her as “Princess Kate, Duchess of Cambridge” and mentioned shared interests, including field hockey and children. The invitation also referred to the Princess’s cancer experience as a possible point of connection, according to Hindustan Times.

The wording combined two titles that were not the appropriate current form in the reports’ account: “Princess Kate” and “Duchess of Cambridge.” The coverage identifies Catherine, Princess of Wales, as the formal style.

Why did she apologize?

On October 1, Kelce addressed the wording on a later podcast episode. Hindustan Times reported her saying she had not known that calling her “Princess Kate” was offensive, that she had learned otherwise, and that she apologized for the mistake. Kelce said she wanted to refer to people in the way they felt respected.

She then said: “Princess Catherine or the Princess of Wales, I apologize. I will get that sorted immediately starting now.” These remarks are quoted as reported by the outlet; the cited coverage is not an independently verified transcript of the podcast recording.

Did Kate Middleton ask Kylie Kelce to apologize?

The reports do not say that Catherine contacted Kelce or personally requested an apology. Kelce presented the apology as her response to learning that the form of address was considered offensive, not as the result of a documented exchange between the two women.

What form of address did Kelce say she would use?

Kelce said she would use “Princess Catherine” or “the Princess of Wales.” The coverage distinguishes that respectful direct form from the familiar name “Kate Middleton,” by which the public often knows her; it does not establish that every use of “Kate” is unwelcome.
